The Baby Names board hates my name..

I have to be honest, I go on there to make fun of people and the names that they like (quietly, not out loud). Someone posted a list of awful names..and MY name was on it! Granted, it was spelled in a way that I have never seen (and hope to never again), but still. Nobody in the comments defended it when spelled correctly (and there are about a million ways to spell it correctly)..so I did.

Are we talking about Bridget? I think Bridget (or Bridgette, etc.) is a really pretty name and I tend to lean toward pretty traditional, classic names.

Honestly that spelling was so bad I didn't even realize it was supposed to be Bridget at first.

Eh who cares if people hate it? I totally don't mean that to come across rude. I just don't think that board is the end all be all of names. I love the name Bridget. I feel like a lot of people over on that board are mean. It is one thing to be honest when someone asks for an opinion, but to just post lists of names to make fun of seems mean spirited.

? No one even commented on it. I think it was just on the list because of the sibling's names and the spelling.

No, it's really not a big deal. I just think it's funny. Bridgette is my name. Granted, my parents spelled it the longest way possible, but I still love it. I'm not offended if they hate it (and I realize that they probably don't hate MY name, just the way it's spelled). I'm just being dramatic.

I don't think they were 'hating' on the name, but moreso the spelling! I know that I can't stand all of 'youneek' spellings people use this day and age!

No, I know. I was just being dramatic. All the comments were sticking up for Allegra, so I had to stick of for my name :-)

I actually prefer Bridgette to Bridget. I think it's a more traditional, European spelling. I love the name either way, though. Allegra? Um. No. I think of allergies when I hear that. I know it's a traditional European name, as well, but Big Pharma has ruined it for me.

I agree with Allegra. If you're European, and live there, that is one thing...but to be born/raised here with that name, it's always going to be associated with medicine IMO.

Haha I know what you mean I do like Allegra, though I also think of the medication first and foremost! That's enough for me not to consider it

I HATE HATE HATE when people take a very respectable name and then try to spell it "creatively." Why would you do that to your child? They're going to be stuck spelling it out loud for everyone, or else live with their name spelled incorrectly.
