My bp this morning was 135/96. The nurse at the OB wasn't concerned because I'm not seeing spots. I called the MFM and the nurse there wants me to lay down and take it again in ten minutes.
I just guess I'm asking if there was a magic number at which you were put on bed rest?
Re: At what point (bp) did your OB care?
My appt last week it was 129/90, so it seems to be creeping. But after laying on my left side, its down to my normal, which is 118/70. It seems that when I'm up, working, it's high, but at home, resting, it's normal.
Le sigh. I hate feeling so paranoid.
Mine was concerned when my lower number was in the 90s. Actually, lower than that, because it was 146/84 during the appointment where he decided to admit me for pre-e. (I was also spilling some protein.)
(this is when it comes in handy having my complete medical records from my pregnancy. )

Mine was 160/120 at my doc appointment today. The doc added a second blood pressure med's and I go back in a week. Two weeks ago it was 160/110 and he doubled my blood pressure med's. The appointment before that they were going to admit me for my lower number being over 100. I begged and pleaded to stay out of the hospital so they did blood work and a 24 hr urine test. They came back that I didn't have pre e so they let me stay home. I had high blood pressure before I got pregnant but it was controlled with med's.
If you never had high blood pressure before getting pregnant and it keeps staying in the higher range then they will want to asses you for pre e too. Usually they look for the bottom number (low number) to go over 100. If you start having a lot of headaches, dizzy spells, or swelling you will need to call your do right away.
Good luck!
No urine catch. I have an MFM appt next week and then my OB the next. If my bottom number gets over 100 I'm going to ask for a 24 hour. My bp is normally the lowish end of normal. I think they aren't so concerned since it goes down when I'm resting. I may ask to just be let off work (if it keeps fluctuating like this)at my OB appt since work doesn't NEED me after the 19th. I can feel when it's high and I did have a headache yesterday, nothing today.
Srsly, thanks for the input, ladies. Now I know I'm right in not letting them ignore me.
140/90 is when they started getting concerned. I had high BP prior to getting pregnant and was on meds for it, but then when I got pregnant I started spotting and read that BP meds could be bad while pregnant so I was bad and just stopped taking them. Luckily for me my body seemed to adjust well to being pregnant (at least, early on, lol) and my BP was normal and even sometimes low throughout most of my pregnancy. I had an at home monitor from my high BP pre-pregnancy so they had me checking it at home and I ended up going to the hospital the next night when it stayed up around 150/100 consistently. I think it was around 32 weeks that my BP started to cause concern and they ended up pushing up my c-section to 36 weeks because by then it had gone all the way up to 160/120. I did a 24 hour urine sample twice and passed both times, and I never had more then trace amounts of protein in my urine so they never considered me as officially having pre-e. With how early you are they might want to put you on meds - they said with me I was far enough along that they didn't want to do meds and would just take the babies out. Since I never tested positive for pre-e I wish they had just admitted me to the hospital for observation and tried to keep the babies in for a little longer (they ended up in the NICU for a little while because they were so small). My MFM wanted them to stay in longer but my OB had been suggesting that they deliver me for 2 weeks by my delivery and my MFM finally caved.
For me, it was all about positioning. If I was laying on either side I was fine (until the last few, when it was high no matter what). If I was sitting, standing, or laying on my back it was high. When it got high I would get a bad headache, so I at least had a good physical indicator of when I needed to really stay on my side. I had been on bed rest for 6 weeks by then anyway, so it was just a matter of being stricter bed rest (only laying on your side sucks!). I would imagine that if you end up the same way where your positioning has a big effect on your BP you'll end up on bed rest for it.
Good luck! Your are absolutely awesome for going through all of this to help someone else.
once the bottom (diastolic) number gets to 90, a doctor should be concerned and you should be considered having pre/Pre-E.
when mine went that high with Ds1 i was put on "house arrest" and told to take it easy or i'd be on full bedrest.
I overnighted one to myself from amazon my husband can take it when he's with me (he had first responder training). Laying on my left side was 117/70... Work is stressful right now (I work in a college admissions office-graduation...), so I dunno. Just being up and about seems to make it go up. It bothers me my OB's office doesn't want me to at least come pee in a cup. But I'll feel better to have a bp monitor in my purse. If it spikes much higher I'll just show up and demand to pee in a cup, lol.
