At the risk of going into TMI territory, here goes!
I'm 7w3d; since probably about week 5 (a week or so-ish after getting BFP), after using the little mommies' room (frequently, sigh), there are little streaks of red blood in the discharge that is on the toilet paper when I wipe. It is never enough to actually make it to the pantyliner I wear on my skivvies, and it's not all the time, though it does happen at least once a day. Most days it'll happen say, once or twice in the morning, and wipeage will be clear all day, then will reappear once or twice at night.
No cramping or pain before or after this happens. Some days I do have a light, dull cramping (like very mild AF cramping), but there is no correlation with bleeding or no bleeding.
I have my first doctor appt (squee!) a week from this Tuesday, and so far have not felt this to be a serious enough issue to call the doc's office and report it (I'm "newly-pregnant worried", but not panicked). I know "spotting" is common during first tri, and am just chalking it up to things stretching out a bit in there.
Just thought I would overshare with you guys and collect feedback.
Re: Not quite spotting
This sounds exactly like what happened to me! I had this during the first tri of my first pregnancy. It was like a thread of red or brown inside thick, clear discharge, and the discharge was usually on the toilet paper after a bowel movement. It happened pretty much every time I had a bowel movement, which was daily. The blood (or whatever it was) was only inside the discharge (if that makes sense), never on my undies, and never on the toilet paper either.
Anyway, I did mention it to my doctor and they basically told me I should only worry if the spotting was bigger than a quarter, or enough to fill a pad, or went along with cramping, etc etc. Basically, whatever it was seemed like normal first tri stuff. Every one is different of course, but in my case, it was no big deal and went away. Definitely mention it to someone and keep an eye on it, but try not to worry too much unless it gets a lot worse or goes along with cramping.
I had 4 days of light brown spotting last week. In fact, yesterday was my first "spot free" day. Usually spotting is nothing to be concerned about, but it's so scary when it's happening to you!
I don't think it would hurt to check in with your doctor and see what he recommends. Who knows, you might even get an early ultrasound.
FX'd that everything is okay.
