Summer Vacation/ Travel Plans?

I've got vacation on the brain!!! What are your plans this summer?

Memorial Day Weekend, my sister and I are surprising my Mom with a trip to Savannah, GA for her 65th birthday.

DH and I will be going to DC for a wedding in June.

In July, we will be going to San Francisco for a week.

4 year anniv in September - we normally take a big trip. Not sure what we're doing this year.

  • We aren't doing anything major.  We have tickets for a Twins game in Minneapolis in July.  (That's our closest 'cultural' vacation spot.)  We have a few local weddings this summer.  DH is taking a fishing trip to Canada in June.  Otherwise, we don't really vacation in the summer because it's actually warm here.  We save vacationing for winter, which we'll obviously be skipping this year.
  • We're going to south Carolina in the summer, supposed to go to Vegas when I'm 28 weeks but that will depend on how things are going :)

We have a wedding in Seattle in Sept but I think only DH is going. The flights are really expensive and if we went, we'd want to stay out there for a week and I need to save my PTO for maternity leave. We'll go back to Milwaukee to see my family a few times and we may take a trip to WI Dells with DH's family.

  • We don't really travel anywhere other than to the cottage during the summer! It's about 4 1/2 hours away and on the lake, so it's fine with me to spend my free time there!

Not too much planned yet, DH's job is really busy over the summers. As of right now just a girls trip to OCMD at the end of July. Should be interesting considering they are all a bunch of alcoholics. I do know one of my friends who is going and TTC now so shouldnt be too bad.

Hopefully DH will have a new job soon and we can plan a vaca for our anniverary, 10/1.

We're going to London for the Olympics during the first week of August, and then a family vacation to the lake with DH's side in June.

So jealous about the Olympics! We talked about doing it for about 3 years, and then realized that the timing was bad for us. Ahhhhhh, I'm seriously super excited on your behalf :)

For us, we have a wedding in Virginia in June and then we're doing a cross country driving adventure in August. My friend is getting married in California in June, but as I look at flight costs, I feel like I won't be able to go. I feel really terrible, but I don't think spending $500 for essentially a one day trip is in our budget.

  • Hoping to go the beach some time this summer.. and our 3 year wedding anniversary is in September, so I hope we can go t the mountains!

  • The week of Memorial Day we always go down to the Outer Banks, NC and rent a cottage for the week with my family.  That's when we are telling my family.   I got a T-shirt for DD that says, "I'm the BIG sister."  I'm curious to see how long it will be before anyone notices.

  • Later this month, we are taking a trip to Chicago.

In August, we go to Key West for a week.

    Possibly north Georgia in October.

  • A small beach in South Carolina with in-laws in July, then Punta Cana, DR in September.  We bought trip insurance so we can get a refund if I don't feel comfortable going.

  • We have a lake house about an hour away, so we'll probably spend just about every weekend there.  We also have a trip down to FL planned for July and a trip to CA in August planned for my dad's wedding.  I want to go to Greece, so I'm trying to convince FI that it needs to happen before the baby comes.

ETA:  We also have a wedding in Chicago at the end of September.

Beyond jealous of the girls going to the Florida Keys.  That is one of my favorite (if not most favorite) places in the world!  We wound go every other year or so, growing up, to see my grandpa (he was a 'snow bird' and would live there in the winter and return to MI in the summer).
We don't have any terribly exciting vacation plans this year.  We will be heading down to PA in June to see SO's dad and stepmom for a couple of days.
We were talking about getting married on a cruise ship this summer, but that is out with the pregnancy.  I'd rather not have a huge tummy in my wedding pics Stick out tongue  So that will probably wait until next summer.

  • No big travel plans this year but a few decent trips.

DH is in the Navy Reserves and will be in Newport, RI for 3 weeks this summer so I'm hoping to go visit him one weekend.

Cincinnati in July for my grandmother's 90th b-day

(I hope) NOLA in July for work.

And my parents are getting a condo in Bethel, ME in late July for a week and DH and I, and my sister & family, will be mooching off them for the week.

  • I am flying to my Gran's house in the UK for a week on the 12th of this month. I was actually listening to Pregtastic (these rockin podcasts for us prego folks) and they were talking about how it is a really good idea to try to set a vacation for your 8th or 9th week so you can just SLEEP. So that should work out (if I dont throw up the whole way there on the plane)...

Other than that we have a few weddings to go to and various day trips. Our anniversary is on July 3rd so we will do a 3 or 4 day weekend trip close to home around then.

  • I actually have two work trips back to back in June (SF and Baltimore), then in July we go to Philly/NJ/Upstate NYC to see family and friends.  Then a wedding in Seattle in September.  We have another wedding in CT in August but I think we are skipping that one because It'll be too much.

  • We're going to Florida at the end of this month to do Disney for a few days and then go on a cruise. I am super glad that the vacation will start all of 3 days into my second tri, I was worried about getting sick on the boat if I already had nausea, so hopefully it won't be a problem by then! I'll just have to sit out on some rides at Disney, but I'll survive. :)
