?'s- Bottle to Sippy & formula to milk

Right now DD only has a bottle with formula in the morning & at night before bed.  I'm begining to think about transitioning to no bottle or formula but think I'm confused.

Should we just give her milk in a sippy to replace the formula/bottle at those 2 times?  Or just drop the formula/bottles all together & offer milk/sippy throughout the day?

The morning one shouldn't be a hard transition but the bedtime one might be harder.  Who knows, she might just surprise us!

  • What we did was over 2.5 weeks transition all her bottles to sippys (She has 3 of them) during the day. I started with the breakfast, then did lunch and last Friday transitioned her over to the sippy cup at bedtime. She has been doing really well.

We also plan on starting to transition her to milk next week. I wanted to do one transition at a time--so I figure I'll use the same thing. Start with the morning cup and see how she likes it :)

Yes good thinking on transitioning to sippy cup completely before introducing milk. One at a time is smart thinking. :)

  • Thanks for responding!  I wasn't sure if we should do what you did or just switch them all at once.  Glad to hear she did well with it.

I started her on a sippy as soon as i started her on purree's and finger foods. She still did bottles after meals and at night. At 11 months I began to introduce milk in the sippy at meal times instead of juice and water. We then started Gradually phasing out the after meal bottle all together.  This week I began to do milk mixed with formula at night. She is down to only a night time bottle. Tonight is the last night for formula and milk becasuse we are at the bottom of the can.... Tomorrow will be strictly milk in a bottle at night. We do no bottles during the day just sippys.... don't have a plan for the  night time bottle.
