Progesterone Levels appointment * update*

Many of you might remember my post from yeterday stating that my hcg level doubled but my progesterone dropped from 10 to 8 and that the Nurse Practitioner was against giving me progesterone supplements. Well this morning I went to my OB's office for an u/s ...I had been told that I would not see my doctor because he was on call at the hospital today but I could speak to one of the other doctors. As soon as I walked in I saw my doctor coming in for a brief moment from the hospital and he immidiately asked me how I was feeling and said he would make time to see me after the u/s...I was thrilled because I also saw the nurse practitioner that had helped me when I m/c in december and she said she would take over my case....at that point I was glad I was not going to be seen by the other nurse that was against the supplement. They did the u/s and told me everything looked perfect...the gestational sac grew from my last u/s 4 days ago and this time there was a big yolk sac which was not so visible 4 days ago. My doctor and nurse told me not to focus too much on the progesterone level because all women are different and they have seen some women deliver perfect and healthy babies with only a progesterone level of 5...but to make me feel more at ease they prescribed Promethium, 1 tablet every night throughout my first trimester. They will do another u/s next week on friday and I should be able to see much more and even hear a HB. I hope all goes well and that I make it to my appt next week without any problems. Sorry, I feel like I just wrote a book but it has helped me so much to discuss my situation with all of you since I haven't told anyone about my pregnancy yet. Wishing a H & H 9 months to all of you ;)

  • I'm glad your doctor went ahead and prescribed progesterone supps....a level of 8 is concerning. They should work, though. I have a friend who had a healthy baby after having a level of 4!

  • H&H 9 months to you! Sounds like things are progressing as they should, so hopefully the prescription puts your progesterone levels on track too. Good luck!
  • I take progesterone nightly. It makes you tired and bloated but worth it. My levels were a 9 before I started now they are a 35. Glad you get another u/s soon too.

I'm glad to hear it helped you. I sure hope it help my level as well. They did tell me it would make me very drowsy and tired...does it make you nauseous?

  • Chin up! I've been on Prometrium for a few days, too, and my progesterone level went from 8.8 to 29 between Friday and Tuesday as a result. Phew!
