Frustrated

So0o .. I applied for insurance about 2 weeks ago. When I called last week to see how it was going they said they did not have my application, therefore I resubmitted it. I called again yesterday to see about it and I am getting the same thing! This insuracne takes 45 days to get after they evaluate my application, and my appiontment is in 2 1/2 weeks! I dont know if I should push my app back because I can't afford it or what, but ill be 9 weeks and really want some information about the LO inside me ..... just kinda in limbo:(

 Anyone else having this issue?

  • Can you take the documentation to them in person?  I'd also aske the insurance people if they can either backdate the coverage or reimburse you.  Talk to the doc's office.  They may have a reduced rate.  I know that a lot of insurance doesn't do any sort of billing until the baby is born so you may not have to actually pay anything up front.

Can you contact your state for assistance?  There should be a program that will cover you until you can your insurance squared away.
    Good Luck!!

  • You also might want to check and make sure your pregnancy is not considered a pre-existing condition.  (If you haven't checked already.)  Some policies don't allow you to get pregnant within 30-60 days of the date the insurance takes effect.
  • this. i applied for pregnancy medicaid in my state and was approved within 10 days, i was also very surprised that you dont have to be at the poverty line to be eligable for it, you may want to check into it because as a previous post said you may be considered a pre existing condition. i almost had this problem w/ my first but luckily the policy was affective as of the date i applied which was a few weeks before i had gotten pregnant. unfortunately this time around i cant afford insurance.
