Food Allergy

Does it get worse before it gets better?

Hello - I just posted for the first time yesterday on this board about my DD's allergy.  Thank you to everyone who responded.

My DD has pretty bad eczema and for the past 2.5 weeks I have been dairy, soy and gluten free.

I wondered if, in your experience, did you child's eczema get worse before it got better?

 Thanks!

Can't remember if it got worse before it got better but we do have flair-ups still which are completely annoying since we're dairy free. One time it seemed to be bc the heater was running more often, one time it seemed to follow a lot of time outdoors. It's such a guessing game. The eczema is nowhere near where it was before but its still frustrating.

Aidan's just randomly flares, even though he's totally food-free now (elemental diet).  Are you using anything on it?  CeraVe has been a miracle for us.

  • It could be something in their environment.  DD got so bad two summers ago when the food had been under control for awhile.  It wound up being her sunscreen.  She also tested positive for every environmental allergen.  This weekend she was at a friends house rolling down a freshly cut grass hill and got some bad patches.  You may just have to play with what she is coming in contact with, laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, the list is endless :(
