I would need to be convinced that the Isle of Capri is named for a Roman god or refers to some obscure saint or something. Otherwise, I can't go for it merely as a place name.
I'll be in the minority and say that I like it. I've never heard Capri used as a name before, but the right person could pull it off. I think it sounds good with Colette.
And yikes! I didn't realize everyone hated capri pants so much! I still wear them. But maybe they'd be best described as cropped pants rather than capris because they're not that short. What else do you wear in the summer if you don't like shorts?

I love Colette it is cute for a little one but also a very classy mature name for a woman.
Capri just sounds too much like a car model or something (is there one?). It just gets way too much use in product names to work well, as pps have said.
Capri is italian right? I know Colette is french. Are you trying to incorporate your backgrounds into DD name or were these just names you liked? I am asking as it would be easier to make suggestions for something a little similar but without all the product connotations.
I'm not Italian or French. I'm actually Irish and those just happened to be two names I liked. And I heard it from the Colbie Caillat song, Capri and have liked it since then.
Yeah, it's not that it's too odd, it's that it'll make people think of capri pants, Capri Sun, the island in Italy... It has way too many connotations that prevent it from working as a first name.
I agree with pp's about pants, isle etc. but also remember an aunt smoking skinny capri cigarettes so definitely a no from me... I adore Colette though!
I think that they sound nice together and people will get used to it. I would hold out on telling friend and family, and then tell them when they see the baby, then they are so excited to see the baby they won't care what the name is, so they won't make fun of it( which is what my family would do). I have a friend who named her baby Subree when we would be out place she would tell somebody the name then when she walked away people would look at me and day "What?" and i would say like Subrina with out the "NA", and they would all shake their heads. it took about a year in our town for people to get used to it but now nobody reacts to it anymore. I have to say that the mother now wishes she would have named her something else more normal( for her), but she said she couldn't think of anything, so I finally said "well then why didn't you just name her Sabrina and call her Subree" she then says, with an ahha face " i never even thought of that. why didn't you say something a year ago" I wish she would have had this board to help her.

If you have to do this because you're afraid your family isn't going to like the name, then you might want to rethink the name. Either own it and the initial teasing (because that's what your kid will have to get used to, and if you like the name so much you should get used to defending it) or change it.
OP, 'Capri' sounds like you're trying too hard. MN is nice though.
I have already told my family I am thinking of using Capri, and they all love it but one person. That person is usually very honest about everything, so I didn't know if everyone else was just being nice.
There is a 3 year old in my DD's preschool named Capri. The teacher made a comment to a few of us parents (not the child's parent) that their parent's like unusual names, but to me it didn't sound all that strange. Although it's probably not a lot of people's style, if it's yours then I say go for it. I do like Collette. I like alliterative names too so you have my blessing (fwiw).

Every single thing she said.
what they both said!
This exactly.

First thing I thought of was the prostitute that Charlie Sheen assaulted in NYC.
Capri Anderson was her name.

I thought of these immediately.
I don't dislike Capri used as a name. I wouldn't use it, but I wouldn't side-eye it, either.
I don't really like the alliteration of Capri Collette, even though I like both names seperately.

Same here! DH & I LOVED the island & have always said that if we ever have a girl...
