Doctor's Appointments - When did you start going more often?

Hi there. Just wondering when everyone started seeing their Doctors more often? I'm approaching 25 weeks and I'm still seeing my OBGYN and my Perinatal Specialist every 4 weeks.

That being said - The appointments have overlapped in a way that I do see a Doctor every 2 weeks, but it still will have been 4 weeks since I saw that specific Doctor.

Make sense?

So far everything has been great - no complications, cervix looks good... but I'm starting to wonder when the Doctors will want to see me more often?

Re: Doctor's Appointments - When did you start going more often?

  • I think I was 28 weeks before I went every 2 weeks and I never seen any other doctors!
  • My OB started 2 week appts at 20 weeks.  I am anticipating 1 week appts at 28 - 30 weeks and am kinda hoping to be taken out of work at 28 weeks.  I am so done with work!

  • I see the OB and MFM every four weeks alternating so I see a doctor every two. Theain thing is my MFM wants my cervix measured every two weeks. Then growth scans and BPP are alternated. I expect that I will start going more often at 28 weeks.

  • Starting at 21 weeks I started seeing the doctor every two weeks. no complications. They just told me that around 20 weeks things can tend to get more complicated. I wouldn't worry, each doctor has thier own preference.

  • I also had no complications and began two weeks appts. from 28 weeks until 35 weeks.  After that I now go weekly.  I also get growth scans every 3 weeks-ish.  And I only see an OB.

  • Okay, thanks for the responses.

Sort of feel like I need to ask my Doctor when I'll start seeing them more.

  • I started weekly appointments at 30 weeks.  At 32 weeks, I started twice a week appointments which included a NST and growth US weekly.  Seems like that is fairly conservative to the other responses but I'm still chugging along and these babies are snug as a bug.

  • From first appointment - 26 weeks I go every 3 weeks. Starting at 26 I will go every two then every week starting at 32 with non-stress testing each week.

  • I have had a completely complication free mono/di pregnancy and I have been seeing my MFM doctor every other week since 16 weeks.  I started going twice a week at 31 weeks and will continue to do so for NST and BP checks until I deliver which right now is scheduled at 36w6d.

What my dr told me last week is that at 28 weeks ill start weekly growth scans and bi weekly appts with her until 32 weeks. Since my cervix has actually been holding strong this time. And the plan is to deliver at 37 weeks. We shall see how this all works out.

  • I am 26 weeks and a few days and had an appointment today, they did say I should come back in 4 weeks and after that appointment I would come more often. The weird thing is that when I went to make the next appointment they gave me one in 3 weeks.

Like you I also see a Dr almost every 2 weeks between the MFM and the OBGYN.

  • I started going every week as soon as we found out I had twins (at my 19 week ultrasound).  They wanted a cervical check every week, even though I never had cervical issues.  My Dr. specializes in high risk pregnancies though, and he's supposedly one of the best in the city at it, so he is probably just used to being more cautious.  He told me that the period from 18-24 weeks is when you are at the highest risk of cervical changes that require bedrest/hospitalization, so they are obsessive about it during that period, then they start to reduce appointments again until 30 weeks (apparently after 24 weeks it's rarely a problem).

I did go down to every two weeks last week (so I got to skip an appointment last week).  Provided everything is going ok at my appointment here in a couple days, I'll start going every 2 weeks until 30 weeks.  Then at 30 weeks I go back to the weekly appointments.

  • Oh and growth scans every month (which will coincide with my appointments)
