PSA: Free carseat canopy

I got an email today from destination maternity about a free carseat canopy from carseatcanopy.com.  All you have to do is a pick out and single carseat canopy (they are priced at 50.00 btw). Add it too your shopping cart and use the code: MOTHERHOOD

all you end up paying for is 12.95 for shipping and its super cute! Had to share :)

Re: PSA: Free carseat canopy

  • Not to be a turd in the punchbowl, but I'm pretty sure that the ones that cover the actual seat part the baby sits in are not safe (I think the slipcover and the head rest).  Nothing should go in a carseat that didn't come in the box is what I've always read--it's not guaranteed to be safe.

    They are cute, though.

Yeah, that part is probably fine and you can use that when you're out and about (so not a total waste!), but I don't think the part that goes in the actual carseat is a good idea.

I could be wrong.  But I've always read that nothing aftermarket should go in a carseat.

  • It is just a canopy. It hangs over the top of baby to protect it from the weather and nosy people you don't want poking at your baby. My SIL has one and it's a great quality. I plan on buying one soon.

ETA: I just went to the site and saw the extras PP was talking about.

It looks like there's a slipcover that goes over the actual seat part of the carseat, though, and some of them come with head inserts/lap blankets, etc.

I think the cover part that goes on the handle of the seat is fine.  I don't think the rest of it is.

Yeah, sorry.  I just saw what you were talking about.  I've seen lots of people use them.  I haven't heard they are bad, but I can see why they would be.  I guess maybe just read the manual on your carseat to see if it mentions anything?  Not sure.

yea I didn't see the need for a 5 piece set, I was excited to finally buy something girly since most of the big items we have bought are neutral :) I ended up getting the pink and teal swirly one.
