My OB has me on Clomid CD 5-9 and prometrium pills CD 16 to end of cycle (or beyond, if we should be so fortunate). I have been reading a little bit about pills vs suppositories vs shots. I have read that the suppositories may be more effective, but it's hard to find any great information.
For those of you on progesterone, what form are you taking? Anyone found some great research on which form (if any) is most effective?

So do you get a nightly shot in the bum? Does it hurt more than a trigger?
DH does my shot at 6:30 pm every day, it gives me enough time to walk around before bed time (I find that the progesterone sometimes forms a lump if I end up just sitting on my arse the rest of the night). Odd days on my left, even days on my right The needle is the same length as my trigger shot needle (mine is 1" vs 1/2" for the sub-q shots). So to me it feels the same as the trigger shot. DH is getting very good at giving me my shots, I hardly feel it now. Massaging the area afterwards helps a lot too.

I was given suppositories, but instructed not to start to use them until after I have confirmed BFP.
I don't know what the side effects, nusances are yet, since I haven't had a chance to use them....

One more person using Crinone 8% gel. So far it has lengthened my LP (which was 5/6/8 days depending) -- I'm 9DPO, so that's a thing. I have no side effects from them so far (I'm still nursing so I'm not sure I'll experience the breast soreness anyway) other than CRAZY RAGE. But that could be any number of things.
Not really messy at all.
the secret blog
For non-IVF cycles, I've been on the prometrium pills, but used them as suppositories. They must be doing something because even one a day extends my luteal phase from 11 days to indefinite.
I've only heard of the shots being used in IVF or FET cycles.
I'm pretty sure the endometrium suppositories are the most expensive of all the options. The PIO shots are the cheapest.
Yes, for my IUIs they gave me pills that some people take by mouth but I had to stick them in my vagina. For the IVF, It is a really hard tablet that is about an inch. It goes in with a plunger.
The Crinone is a thick liquid that comes in a pre-filled applicator that is kind of like a tampon, but smaller. You sqeeze the pouch & you're done without having to touch anything.
