He hates 97% of names. I had a list of sixty names and he liked 2. If I hit him over the head, when he wakes up do you think he will agree that Evelyn is a beautiful name and we should use that one if its a girl? lol
I could have written this exact post, all the way down to Evelyn!! I ADORE nameS like Evelyn and Elenor, DH nearly gags when i suggest them but he can never give me names that he likes. I love old classics and he likes Michelle and Jessica (no offense to anyone) but they are just soooo dated IMO. If the head bashing thing works, let me know
He likes Jackson....as in he wants to name our baby after Michael Jackson. If he wears me down on that name I will never tell a soul IRL that our kid is named after MJ.
My husband is the exact same way. I presented him with literally hundreds of names, and we went through baby name books and websites and hated pretty much everything. Except at least he had one affirmative suggestion, and ... that's the name we'll end up using. I just got too tired of fighting him to be more reasonable.
BTW, I love Evelyn. It would have made my short list in a vacuum (i.e., where my husband wasn't involved).
If its a girl, my plan is to call her Evelyn while shes still in. Then when she comes out he will know her as Evelyn. He is aware of the plan so its not like Im manipulating him, ha!
Hey I just noticed your siggy. since it's your first and his third, that means he's had the experience twice before of helping name a child. So to keep it even, Your vote should be 2/3 of the decision and his should be 1/3......

My DH would not even talk names before the AS. Maybe wait until you know and then start again? My DH was the same, shot down every single name I liked, with both kids it seemed it had to be his suggestion that won out. When he finally started looking at names I think he googled girl's names of the 80's, it was like he handed me a list of my friends names. GL, don't go with Jackson, it is way overused.
I tried to argue that I get more say if it's a girl since he named both his girls, first and middle names. He said fine but if it's a boy he's naming him George. Which makes me think of George Costanza from Seinfeld.
I think you're right we should probably just wait until the AS. I just like to know stuff ahead of time. I like having a plan.
For a boy he likes Harrison and Jackson. His favorite is George but I said no way so these are the two choices. For a girl he likes Olivia and Bailey. He likes the name Jordan for either. If these are all the names he will agree to (we are now up to 98 names, I have a list so I can keep track of all the ones he doesn't like) then I like Harrison and Olivia Jordan. I'm not sure about a boys middle name but he has a bunch of "maybes" so I guess we would pick one of those for a middle name.

Lol... I swear, many Dh's are stuck in the 80's when it comes to names. I think, because a lot of men don't name their dolls after their future children and dream about name comobs for years (haha), the only "name experience" they have are associations with cute girls in their classes when they are growing up.
I have vetoed a lot of 80's suggestions. Thankfully, my Dh doesn't have bad taste per se, he is just very opinionated. After discussing many names, he now has his mind set on 2 names and even though I don't feel we're done looking, he is mentally attached to those 2 names (thankfully, they are both names I suggested, surprisingly... keep trying and keep suggesting your faves over and over again to help certain ideas grow on him).
Re: No names for you, just a DH vent
So frustrating! My husband is kinda the same way, but when I ask for his suggestions, he can't think of any names.
For what it's worth, Evelyn is lovely.

I like Harrison, but Harrison George makes me think of George Harrison from The Beatles. Not that that's a bad thing. Olivia Jordan isn't bad either.
