I found this great article of a woman's experience while she was in Japan after she had her miscarriage. It's really great to know that there is a culture that doesn't make you feel shameful of your loss. We really could learn a thing or two from them about this. Hope you enjoy the article

Good find, thank you for sharing. Her description of that connection breaking when she had her miscarriage is haunting. That's exactly how I remember it too.
It's true that we don't have a word for a miscarried or aborted fetus in English. But I think those of us on TB have invented our own; "angel baby". Maybe one day this word will be widely accepted IRL?
What a great read.
The fact that the statues all have a pinwheels in their hands really struck a chord with me. I was going to decorate LO's nursery in pinwheels. I made 50 pinwheels for our big wedding (that we had to cancel), and I was excited when I realized I'd be able to put them to use later. I still have them, and I obviously can't look at 'em without thinking of my babies.
The left photo in my siggy is Jizo. My (seriously awesome) boss gave me a Jizo statue after my first loss. MH and I treasure it knowing he might be watching over our babies. I never thought to make an offering, but maybe we will.
Thanks for posting the article.
