Infertility

unexpected news from the RE!

After IVF #1, we had 8 embryos frozen at day 2 and 3 frozen at day 6.  Earlier this week the lab thawed 5 of our earlier embryos to see if they could grow them to blast. At our FET yesterday, we were disappointed when we were told that none of them made it and they had to use 2 of our 6 day blasts for a total of 7 of our 11 embryos used in this FET.

Unexpectedly, I just got a call from my RE saying that 2 of the little guys just had a little slow start after the freezing process but today turned into perfect day 5 blasts! They were able to re-freeze those 2 embryos for us for a later cycle!

So now we have 1 day 6 blast, 2 day 5 blasts, and 3 day 2 embryos frozen for later cycles! Just the news I needed to get me through the day!

I asked this same question. He told me that if they are first frozen at the early stage (3 days or under) and then continue to develop they can be refrozen and can go on to have very healthy babies. Awesome, huh? Science is amazing sometimes.
