Weird to want morning sickness?

Hi there! I have been checking out the boards obsessively for a couple of weeks now and finally decided to post. We are pregnant for the very first time and its so exciting!!! I am only six and a half weeks along at this point so we haven't even told our parents yet. The waiting is sheer torture. So far no m/s but I have definitely had really sore boobs (especially at night and in the morning), slight cramping, some fatigue, and some random cravings like orange juice and pineapples, lol. I literally bought a jug of OJ from the grocery store and couldn't wait to get home to drink it so I sat in the parking lot drinking straight from the jug! Is it crazy and weird that I kind of want to experience some morning sickness just so I know this is real? I feel pretty good overall - it just doesn't quite feel real yet for some reason.

Re: Weird to want morning sickness?

  • I promise you that you don't want to experience it!  Give yourself a little bit more time and you'll start to "feel" it even more, and you'll be glad you don't have to battle m/s with everything else.

  • I'm not experiencing any m/s right now either.  I've been told to enjoy it because it'll come soon.

  • It's so common to "want morning sickness" and I completely understand.  It may not go over well with the ladies who are suffering with m/s right now, but I know you just feel like it would reassure you :)

Not everyone gets it (I didn't and haven't yet) and hopefully you stay feeling great.

  • You can have mine?

Ugh. I miss cooking and food and not laying on the sofa like a lump. I couldn't believe it when I actually thought (about what to eat for lunch yesterday), "What's the worst that could happen? I'll throw it up? Meh."

Something like 80% of pregnancies come with nausea/vomiting, so I'm sure yours will be along shortly. :-)

  • Ha, thanks for the advice and understanding.  Its just one of those symptoms you hear so much about so it feels weird not to be experiencing it yet myself.  I will just enjoy this time now while it lasts... I'm sure it will be coming!
  • I completely understand! I am only six weeks and have had no m/s, only two days where I got a little dizzy and nauseous which I controlled by eating some yogurt. I have actually been feeling super energized and excited. Slight cramping and sore breasts but that's pretty much it. I keep the pregnancy test on a table near my bedroom door so I see it a lot and it makes it a little more real. No one knows except for DH and the receptionist at the OB who made my appointment for next week! I know that the m/s and fatigue will come so I am trying to just take advantage of feeling so good. I agree that it make me feel a little more secure, especially since this is my first pregnancy. Congrats and know you're not alone!
  • This post would've made me stabby yesterday as I was in the throes of one of the worst days yet.  I didn't have any with DD.  You may be one of the lucky ones but chances are it just hasn't reared its ugly head yet.

  • I know what you mean though.  My boobs have been sore but it has kind of settled now.  I have some back aches, but no m/s and am just tired, but not sleeping at night.  I worry though because I did have m/s last time and then m/c.  My dr appt isn't for another week or so.

  • I dont want m/s but i can understand how you feel... its almost like its not really real unless you experience every symptom that everyone else complains about.

Like you, I am also 6.5 weeks, and so far I have no fatigue, and no m/s  (the 2 biggies) My symptoms are slight and they come and go. I do have: sore, big boobs, increased sense of smell, slight cramping every so often, and random discharge.. lol. But thats it. I spoke to my mom (who never had m/s) and another of my friends who never had it, while its one of the most common symptoms, some people are lucky enough to never get it - so Im just counting my blessing for now.

But i totally understand why you would "want" it - however... as the saying goes, be careful what you wish for!

  • I completely understand how you're feeling. I'm on my third pregnancy and have never gone through morning sickness. I understand your feelings because I've wanted it just for "reassurance." I'm sure I would change my mind once it decided to come.

  • With my first pregnancy, I was sick a week before I even tested.  And continued to be sick, multiple times a day, until 26 weeks.  With this one, a week after I tested I was still feeling fine.  And I had a hard time believing I was really pregnant. It had me very nervous.  But then at 6 weeks, it hit, hard.  And now I'm back to feeling miserable all day long, almost crying at the thought that this is going to go on for another 20 weeks.  I understand your feeling, but seriously, if you're one of the lucky ones,  you're not missing out!

  • I know what you mean. I would even take sore boobs right now. I have no symptoms except food aversion. I don't want to eat anything because it all tastes bland. Other than that, I have nothing.

  • I totally understand what you mean.  Mine's been around since about 6 weeks, and isn't as terrible as some ladies' I'm sure, but it's there every day for most of the day.  Anyway, I wouldn't wish it away because it is reassuring to me.

I was you last week. I totally get what you're feeling. Now I wish I could take it back. Today wasn't bad but ALL day yesterday was awful! I never had m/s with my first baby so this is new to me. If and when you do get it, here's a tip: sip water and nibble on foods throughout the day. Not letting yourself get hungry or thirsty help keep the nausea at bay. Good luck!!
