I answered no. My first appt I wasn't even 5 weeks yet so there was no point, my MW did set up an appt for my first ultrasound at the 8 week mark........ count down on T- 2 weeks!
I answered yes but I've had two losses and that's not standard for my doctor's office, it's just because of my history. They usually wait til 12 weeks apparently.
doctor had me come in just to take a pregnancy test and get a yearly pap. u/s dating is set for may1st then my first real appointment (blood work ect..) may16th.

They usually like to do an early u/s so they can get measurements to give you a more precise due date. Babies measure about the same sizes during early pregnancy so it's easier to see how far along you are.
I answered yes, but I am also going through my RE. I will have one everyweek for the first 10 weeks.

My 1st appt was at 4w1d because of early spotting and lots of cramping... obgyn wanted to rule out an ectopic. That u/s was inconclusive, but last week's follow-up showed the bean in the correct place, with a nice hb. Yay!
Wow, 70% of respondants have had or will have an u/s on their first appt! Quite a statistic!
I know it's NICE, but can someone explain to me the medical necessity of having a routine u/s so early? For a non-IVF, no history m/c, etc, of course?
Mine was done at 8 weeks to confirm and date the pregnancy. Their practice is to do that U/S between 8 and 10 weeks, which allows room for the NT scan if patients want.
My next U/S will be in week 20 for the anatomy scan.
I'm not sure why you distinguish it as NICE vs medical necessity, as ACOG advocates it as a way to provide better and more consistent care.

I have a u/s scheduled at 7 weeks with my RE, but had one early at 5w2d to check for an ectopic pregnancy. When I go to my first appt with my regular obgyn's nurse at 8w5d there won't be an u/s.
I haven't scheduled my appointment yet, but I know my midwife doesn't do ultrasounds so I won't have one when I do go in.

My doctor likes to set the due date ASAP, so he always has an u/s at the first visit.
I actually had an u/s before my appointment, though, due to bleeding.

I see. This makes more sense. thanks!
If this was my first pregnancy, I wouldn't have gone in for an ultrasound yet because my doctor typically doesn't see patients until 8 weeks.
But because of my history, my doctor has been monitoring me closely and I've already had 3 ultrasounds.
