City Mini GT Double Stroller ?

Does anyone have this model?  I am looking at this for my boys and can't find customer reviews for it.

Does it fit easily through doors?  I think it is 1 inch wider than the other models.

Any comments on the wheels?

Does it really handle easily on uneven terrain?  I live by a trail that is paved but does get mucked up with leaves, fallen branches and is a little uneven.  My DSNG works okay on the trail but I can't speed walk with it (I can't anyway as my LOs are just 4 months) and I am hoping that the GT model will work for me.

TIA for your input!

  • It has great reviews on Amazon. Also, just google it and a bunch of positive reviews from baby bloggers and boutique shops pop up.

  • babygizmo.com likely has a review- Holly's reviews are great and righ on the money for all the strollers I have owned.

pretty much all sBS doubles are made to fit through standard doors - that's not a problem... what is a problem is when you are INDOORS - often you won't fit around things... clothing racks in stores, chairs in the doc office, etc - which is why I found it necessary to have a tandem for sure.

If you want to power walk- you should look at an all terrain - the mini is not one - the tires on it are small and not made for power walking... running, super bumpy terrain, etc.  The City Elite is - with larger tires - it will be very easy to use going on long walks, even light jogging, etc.   I have a Valco Trimode for this purpose....i wouldn't have wanted a Mini for that (and i love the minis- just rented one in Disney and thought it was awesome).

The GT is basically replacing the Elite, as it has many of the same features now and is a significant change from the regular city mini (including the tires). Also, there will be no 2012 model of the Elite, and there were complaints that the 2011 Elite did NOT fit through doorways (the specs will suggest it does, but the hand brake on the side is not included in the specs and makes it just slightly too big). I had originally registered for the Elite but changed my mind once I saw info about the GT.

FWIW, I have the GT and love it. However, I've only taken it on walks in my neighborhood on paved roads.

  • We have the GT, but our twins are still inside babies, so I can't really speak to how the GT handles in different situations. I will say the adjustable handle is nice, the seats feel very cushioned. The basket underneath is still not stellar, though they did bend the bar a bit.

  • It is a great stroller!  We don't have it yet, but we'll be buying it closer to our due date.  I spent a lot of time w/ it at Buy Buy Baby, pushing it around, folding it up, etc.  It is MUCH more padded than the previous city mini's (the reason I didn't want one before) and the wheels are great.  I think it would be great on uneven terrain like you described.  The basket is easier to access but isn't great in my opinion; have to hang a diaper bag off the back.  I can't wait to buy ours!

interesting - i obviously have no need to keep up with this stuff right now, lol. But the tires still don't look as large as the Elite's were - they don't look like they are a true all-terrain tires... even if bigger than the regular Mini.  Again- if someone really wants to use for jogging, etc - a true jogger or all terrain with larger tires is best for the children.
