MRI & u/s on same day...

So my H has been having these dizzy spells and very sensitive to noise lately.  Doc wants him to have an MRI - they scheduled it 2.5 hrs before our gender revealing u/s.

He is such an attention whore.

I am kidding.

I am sorta freaking out that, um, this is crazy enough for them to order him an MRI?  I keep telling myself it isn't worth getting worried about unless the docs tell me I have something to be worried about, right?

Thoughts and Prayers appreciated!

Both appointments are May 1.

that's a big day. I would try not to stress, it's just a test right now.

This..and thankfully his doc is being proactive!!

  • Try not to worry too much. It is just a test, and FWIW I've had three separate MRIs (on three different areas) and none of them found a problem.

I was pretty worried going into it, but they give you headphones and it is dark and I ended up taking a nice nap 2 of the 3 times. The third time my head wasn't in the machine and I was so disappointed that it was too bright to sleep.

Thank you... this really gives me some peace of mind.  I don't know anyone (that I am aware of) that has had an MRI, so we really don't know what to expect.

Did you have to have a i/v put in?

  • I think for at least one of them I had to do the dye thing via i/v. That was a rough time in my life and it all kinda jumbles together, but I remember dye for either that, a CT, or both being really warm and tingly. It felt like I'd peed myself as it spread through my body!

I do remember being really out of it afterward, but I was also on a lot of medication to try to fix the problems I was having, so the grogginess could have been more related to that than anything. I also don't do well having heavy headphones on my ears, so that didn't help the disorientation.

The hardest part of the MRI is waiting for the results, but like I and others have said: just getting the test doesn't mean anything is definitely wrong.  They actually thought I had MS. I had all of the physical symptoms, including some rare ones. No brain lesions, though! Eventually we figured out what was causing the symptoms and it was a huge coincidence, but it was all worrisome to be sure.

I wish you lots of luck! I hope your hubby can relax in the MRI and then you can both focus more on the A/S instead of waiting for results!

I am sorry to hear you went through all of that!  How scary, but then I think we are very very lucky and fortunate to live in a society with such technology and medicines to help us stay healthy.

I hope that you are feeling better and recovered.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for sure.  Thank you for sharing.  I say this to a lot of people, but I swear by chiropractic care, have you seen one?

Funny, my husband's insurance changed and since we haven't been to a chiropractor, no one in our family, and my oldest daughter has been sick enough for antibiotics 2x, my youngest and I have had tummy issues a gazillion times and now this with H.... interesting to say the least!

  • I've had several MRIs done on my head. It's just to make sure he's fine. On the plus side, getting to see his brain is pretty cool.

Thanks! It was a long time ago. It ended up being a variety of weird things: part of it was intense stress from my 1st marriage. Getting a divorce fixed a good bit of it (I also dropped 60 lbs like nothing).  Some of it was carbon monoxide poisoning from the car I was driving to see specialists 2 hours away from home a few times a week (ironic!), and some of it was probably because of how much medicine they had me on to try to fix me!! :)

I had a chiropractor I love before I moved from Madison. I haven't found one here yet due to not really having the money, but I miss it. I've also been to a crraaazzzzzyyyy chiropractor, but there are crazy people in all professions.

My son is allergic to both antibiotics he has been on, and the second one (double ear infection) didn't even fix his infection. Chiropractic did! When he started having symptoms again instead of abx we tried chiropractic and it went away quite quickly. It is amazing! I tell all my mom friends this. Most don't listen, but I think it is much better to take your child for a gentle adjustment than to give them abx if you can help it! (especially when it seems like more kids are having reactions these days!)

Holy cow, you must have been seriously tired. I had my knee MRIed (luxating patella) and even with the headphones, it was SO LOUD. They did let me pick my own music, which was neat.

LOL That could have been a contributing factor. :)
