My mum called me today and was in a bit of a freaked out mood. My shower is May 5, and she sent out the invites early this month. She requested rsvps (yes/no) via email or phone by Thursday. Of the 21 people invited, only 5 have responded. Her plan is to contact the rest by email since she usually keeps in touch with them via email rather than phone. She wanted some help from me regarding what she should say. I'm usually good at this kind of thing but I can't put anything into words right now.
I was thinking of keeping it short and simple "a friendly reminder that Rebecca's shower is May 5th! We hope you can join us!" I feel that if she starts the message off with "I hope this finds you well" or some other such that it'll come off as fake. Any suggestions?
I told my mom, hey, if few people show up, more cake for me, but she says she feels like she would disappoint me if no one comes. Awwww. Sad.
Re: my mom needs your help...
I would give people a grace period. First, it's only Tuesday, not Thursday, so they aren't late yet. Second, there is something about the months changing that tends to throw people off, IME.
I'd wait until Sunday or Monday then just send a simple email.
"Hi everyone,
Just wanted to check to see if you can join us for Rebecca's shower on Saturday. We're so excited to be welcome a new baby into our family/I'm so exicted to become a grandma/whatever.
- Mom"
