Anyone ever used a stylist?

It's been almost 3 years since I had a "normal" wardrobe (maternity clothes, breast feeding tops, maternity clothes then BFing tops again...) and I've come to realize my wardrobe SUCKS. It's all black and grey and navy blue and loose cotton shirts... I am going back to work in September and I really need to update my closet. But since I suck at anything fashion related, I'm thinking of going to see a stylist to help me out.

Has anyone ever used one? Did you like it? Any tips or advice?

  • I wish! My friend has a personal shopper and she loves it. They basically go off of what you like and size and bam! You have a whole new wardrobe. I use Nordstrom's as my personal shopper. You just tell them what you like and they just bring a bunch of stuff to the dressing room. I never leave the dressing room.

Now THAT would be nice. Sadly, I that is not something I could afford. I looked up stylists online and for a few hundred bucks you can have one go shopping with you for a few hours. That's what I'm thinking about doing. My birthday is coming up so I'd ask my H and my parents to help me pay for it....

I have never used a stylist, but I wanted to chime in and say that sounds like a great idea for a birthday gift! You should go for it! :) I would love that. Plus, it's like a gift that keeps on giving because you would probably learn a lot, and you'd have a snazzy new wardrobe!

  • Don't you wish "What Not to Wear" would come to Canada?  Hehe.  I always wanted friends to recommend me for that show - now that would be a birthday gift!

I say you go for the stylist!
