when will LO sleep in their own crib?

so i havent been on in a while.......  so sorry if this has already been discussed numerous times...

but when are you transferring LO from a bassinet in your room to their own crib?

my baby girl is such a LOUD sleeper- that DH has to sleep with ear plugs in to get any sleep- LOL

she is now 3 weeks old and im thinking about putting her in her own crib at like 6 weeks..... her room is RIGHT next door to our room and we have a monitor- so im not TOO worried- but im just worried if she spits up or something i'll have to run into the other room.....

  • You could do it now if you wanted to. There is no hard fast rule. Whenever it makes sense for you is the best time
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.

Yep. I can tell you for us it will be a really long time, it has to work for you!

  • our room is downstairs and all the others are upstairs, so we'll wait until she can reliably sleep through the night. We did this with DS around 5 months and it worked well. We'll also be switching DS to a toddler bed at the same time since he is in the crib now, so we'll have to see how that gos. She only wakes up once a night right now, so I think in general it will be easier for her to STTN, but she is quite content in the RnP in our room.

  • Mia's crib is in our room so when we go to bed, she goes in the crib.  Once she wakes I take her into bed with us for side-laying breastfeeding.  Sometimes, if I or DH is awake enough, we put her back in the crib.  We only have a 2 bedroom apartment and dont like the idea of putting the crib in with DS so she will stay in our room for awhile - until we are prepared to give up our dining room  Sad

  • Nevaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Syke, I'm totally kidding. We're aiming for 3-4 months, but that all depends on how she's sleeping by then.

    To each their own.

  • I have 3 months stuck in my head for some reason.
  • We thought our son would be in our room for much longer, but he too is a noisy sleeper. We moved him at about 2.5 weeks, once I felt like I could lift him out of the tall crib with my c/s recovery. DH and I sleep much better now! DS is right across the hall and we have a video monitor, so I'm fine with it.

ETA: He's really only in his crib from about 11 to 4 a.m. at this point. He's restless after about 4 a.m., so I put him in the RNP next to the bed from about 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. for easy access and rocking.

  • DD is already in there for a majority of the time, she sleeps better in there than she does the PnP, we have a monitor and that's what works for us, DD1 was the same way
