Preemies

*~mhop~*

I saw your post below about C loving to stand... E is the same way:) Our OT says that most preemies prefer to stand over sitting or being on their stomachs because they spent less time in the womb so being stretched out is more *normal* to them than being squished. I thought it was interesting :)

I can't believe how big C is getting, she's so darn cute!!

  • She can really stand by herself already?  That is impressive!  I know 2 full term babies born in Feb that can't stand (though they started crawling last week).  She's adorable!
  • The pic is actually a little misleading, I guess...she's really standing propped up against the ottoman but I still think that's good!  Ivory-that's interesting about the preemie theory...  Our OT also thinks it's because of her reflux maybe- her tummy doesn't like to be squished and standing stretches out her mid-section so there is less pressure.  Who knows?

I'm going to try to make the pic smaller b/c it's so big!

  • I think it's awesome that she can stand, even propped like that. E can stand holding onto something, but I tried standing her like that last night and she promptly fell over (though she stayed straight the whole time) :) Unfortunately our OT wants us to not work on standing since E prefers it, so we're working on her bending more at the waist. She sits unassisted, but when you try to put her down on her butt she fights it :)

  • That's great that Emma can sit unassisted.  Campbell can sit for about 30 seconds and then extends backwards (again, they prefer being straight) and falls down.  Her PT lets her stand as her "reward"...isn't that funny?
