Re: New Infertility Campaign

  • I thought it was a pretty good article, though I don't agree with all the reasons why women stay silent.  I am silent (except for a few close friends) because I wouldn't announce a pregnancy the mintue the pee dried on the stick anyway.  I don't want people to know when I am going through treatments not becasue I am afraid of failing but because anything could happen and if I was able to get pregnant naturally we wouldn't tell anyone until at least 12 weeks anyway.

  • Thanks for sharing, I'm glad IF is getting some media attention this week.  Only thing I disagree with in the article is at the end where it says you can give an infertile hope by saying it only took you 4 months to get KU - that makes me snarky, not hopeful.

I saw that too. I think the wording was "it took us 4 tries to get pregnant" or something like that so I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that their definition of "tries" meant IUI or IVF or something along those lines.

I wrote a blog yesterday about what not to say to an infertile and "I can relate, it took us 4 whole months to get pregnant" was on there. Definitely can't relate.

  • I just read that myself. I found another one of the articles linked there to be very touching, actually:  https://health.msn.com/pregnancy/birth-story-a-light-at-the-end-of-infertility?page=1

A lot of us ladies, unfortunately, can relate to her emotional rollercoaster. I actually got teared up reading it.
