Ok so this is sort of stalkerish but...I was checking out your kitchen in your siggy and LOVE it.  Is your island a different color than the rest of your cabinets?  My dh wants to do that with our island and I have been resisting but your kitchen looks awesome...I may have to reconsider.

Haha, no worries.  It's fair game!  Our kitchen was faux finished by a guy in our area.  He actually faux finished most of our entire house.  Anyway, I wanted a distressed finish on my island...so, he did a tobacco stain on the island and then painted it black (to compliment some of the black in the granite) and distressed it so that the underlying tobacco stain showed through if that makes sense.  So, it's not solid black but a very worn, rustic finish.  The cabinets were painted Anitque White by Sherwin Williams and then he applied a glaze over that to dirty them up.  So, it all looks very old and antiqued!  The butler's pantry which you may be able to barely see in the photo was finished in an antique faux wood color...it looks like they're stained and distressed but it's actually paint with a glaze applied over it to set that area apart from the kitchen.
