My DD just turned 6mo and has been in teething hell for the past few weeks. Well today she is just not taking a bottle and barely eating solids. She has had 11oz all day and 1tbs of sweet potatoes. She has sucked on ice cubes in a mesh bag, teething rings, I've given her pediacare and oragel. She's in good spirits and not crying, can they just be uninterested in eating? I spoke to the on call pedi (who I don't like) and he said unless she's vomitting and have diarrhea she's really not at risk of dehydration from one day of not eating much. Has anyone else experienced this during teething and how long did it last? I'm totally freaking and could use some input from others. TIA !!! Sorry for typos bumping from iPhone.
Re: Not Eating - Help!!!
Yes, stop freaking out. Perfectly normal. Poor baby's teeth is hurting. You wouldn't want to put anything in your mouth if you were in pain. Just continue to offer the food. If you want to go stronger with meds we've always used ibuprofen during the worst part of the teething.
Remember this freakout when LO's a toddler and refuses to eat anything you put on his/her plate. Relax, breath, and carry on.
Oh, and how long does it last? When it stops hurting, which is usually when the tooth has broke through skin. Then you have some reprieve before the next tooth comes in! Good time....
LOL, that's one way to celebrate it! Enjoy this moment. The molars are the killer ones!
