Hi Ladies,
I know I've been MIA for a while but things were pretty hectic right after baby's arrival and we are finally starting to settle at home. I'll try later today or this week to post my birth story. I apologize if this topic has been addressed lately but I haven't had a chance to go through the old posts.
I bought the Snuza baby monitor because I liked the idea of not having to worry about wires and things like that with the Angelcare. I do have a used Angelcare but when we tried to use it with sound and movement, there was too much static/interference. I thought I might be able to buy a Snuza and then use it in conjunction with an old school sound only monitor to amplify the Snuza alarm since I have a hearing problem.
I know they don't usually recommend using the Snuza until the umblical stump is gone for positioning issues but I'm not even seeing how this would work with such little babies. It doesn't seem like there would be enough room on the newborn diapers. Is anyone else using (or used) the Snuza with a newborn? She was 7 pounds 9 ounces so she is average sized.
As of right now we are using the used Angelcare monitor set to movement and sound but did not plug in the sound receiver portion and I just sleep on a memory foam mattress pad on her bedroom floor. We don't have much room our bedroom for her to stay in our room and she actually does well in her crib so I would rather keep her there.
Any advice, comments or personal experiences would be appreciated.
Re: Snuza baby monitor quesiton
We used it since he came home from the hospital. He got down to 7 pounds, 3 ounces. What we did was put it slightly off to the side of his belly button. (We do have the Snuza go - the orange one, not sure if the Halo/purple one is bigger).
LO has an umbilical hernia, which means we have to put it on the side of his belly button anyway. The only problem we've run into is that is has "slipped" off three times. Two of these were while I was snuggling with him, and the other was when he was in his bassinet. It is scary as hell when it goes off, but at least I know that it does what is is supposed to!
