Trouble TTC

Pre seed? Soft cups?

Im super interested in using pre seed, wondering if anyone else uses it?

Also i've been hearing and reading about using soft cups for ttc anyone know or have an experience with that?

Trying to Conceive Ticker

Re: Pre seed? Soft cups?

  • We use pre-seed, and I like it, I don't know how much it helps though.  Only what I've read that it's the only fertility-safe lube.

    Sorry, I'm not much help!

  • I used preseed for almost 9 months. Obviously it didn't help. Then I switched to Wesson canola oil on the advice of an RE (friend, not treating me).

If you do use the preseed, don't use what they tell you to. Just use a smidge externally.

I honestly don't think it was worth the price, but if you have a serious need for lube every time, then try that or Canola oil. More foreplay is usually the best thing, but if you have vulvadynia or something, you'll need actual lube.

  • I use pre seed, little bit externally. I also use Instead Cups after sex. We usually have sex at night so I just put it in and keep it in until morning. I really do hate them though. They are so uncomfortable and one size fits all is bs. If I weren't so cheap and planning on using it for periods too I'd get a Diva Cup or something similar.

  • We use Preseed occasionally. Obviously I'm not pregnant yet. But sometimes I need something and it's better than nothing.

This.  A little really does go a long way. I used it internally at first and it was leaking out like crazy afterwards.  Now I just use a little externally (but only when we need it....like on day 5 in a row) and it works perfect.  And by "perfect" I mean does it's job as a lube.  If it was truly perfect I would have been prego a year ago when I first started using it Stick out tongue

  • We have used preseed for the last several months.  I am one of those people who got pregnant the first time we used it (and we used it internally).  Unfortunately my bfp ended in a m/c. But I have been using it ever since, just in case it helped.  It was also the first cycle after my HSG so who knows.

  • I never tried preseed, but I have used the SoftCups. I like them as they make post sex much less messy. I didnt have any problems with them being uncomfortable and I'm fairly petite. As far as actually helping keep the sperm closer to the cervix, I don't know if they help.

Because if you use too much and put it in the applicator our experience was I was way too wet and then DH couldn't do his part. A pea sized amount goes a long way.

  • Re: the internal vs external thing - what PP said. I used a vastly smaller amount internally than what they suggest, and DH was not into it and that attempt didn't go as planned. He said it was too slippery. We finally tried it again recently, with a tiiiiiny bit externally and that was definitely enough.

When you get the stuff in the mail, you'll see what we mean. You take one look at the applicator and think "You want me to put that much in there?!". It seems insane to me.

Yes, too slippery and messy. It was just an excess amount of lube. Also, FWIW we went through the first tube in 2-3 cycles (following their instructions) and our second tube has lasted us 9+ cycles.

That makes a lot a sense! We will definitely do that then, thanks for the advice ladies!

  • I got a LadyCup rather than the Instead because it's made of silicone so you can wash and reuse it. I bought it for $30-35 on Ebay. I insert it immediately after sex, prop my hips up, and have an orgasm to try to help get all of the sperm further in. I leave the cup in over night and remove it the next day.

It seems to me that it does improve your odds since you're keeping more of the sperm inside of you, but unfortunately there really haven't been any studies on this - only anecdotal evidence (mostly from people who would have gotten pregnant regardless). Out of our four medicated cycles, the two times I used the cup is when I got pregnant. Yes, it could be coincidence, but I tend to think it's helping our odds.

If you want to try preseed just for extra lubrication, that is fine but it doesn't help with conceiving, I used it internally for a few months and didn't conceive. I had read great reviews about it but I honestly used it hoping for BFP which didn't work.
