Trouble TTC

Remembering to take meds

I was wondering if any of you have anything specific you do to remember to take your medicines. Last night I was falling asleep on the couch and DH asked if I had taken my Metformin. I hadn't. I hadn't wanted to take it earlier because it causes stomach problems. But I wonder if it really makes that much of a difference. Since I'm going to be starting Provera again soon and Clomid after that, I don't want to forget to take anything. Any suggestions?

Re: Remembering to take meds

  • I once woke up frantically in the night thinking I had not taken my Clomid only to realize that I already have so I feel you on the paranoia of forgetting.  I even took them at dinner every night just so I'd remember.

My sister had to use the Day of the Week pill separators for her prenatals otherwise she'd forget.  You can get them at the drug store for cheap. Or you can try setting an alarm on your phone.

  • I keep my Metformin on my kitchen table so I see it at dinner which is when I take it. I also keep some extra in my purse. When I was on the pill I set the alarm on my phone and that worked very well for me.

  • I take a bunch of stuff so for me the pill dispenser works best.  I take multiple things throughout the day so I wanted to break them up.

  • I set an alarm on my phone for short term stuff; for everyday I put them near the toothpaste since brushing my teeth is the last thing I do before I go to bed every night.

I really need to start doing this. I always forget if we go out and then remember when I'm half asleep and in bed.

  • I take my medicine at lunch and bed time, so over time I've associated those activities with my meds and the routine helps me remember. When I'm taking something like Clomid for only a few days, I add it to my lunch pills.

My Prometrium always is a bit harder for me to remember even though I take it with my bed time pills (probably partly because I hate how it makes me feel, lol) and I try to be very consistent with the time I take it, so I set my phone alarm for that one.

  • Thanks, everyone! I had an alarm set for my prenatal vitamin but I was waiting longer to take the Metformin, until right before bed. I'm just going to take them at the same time now. Taking the Met later didn't make any difference anyway.
