1st RE appt, a Dx & a plan! (kinda long)

Well, our first RE appt was today.  Im not sure he was ready for us to be so prepared (we've done everything we could have with my obgyn), but based on labs, the hsg & my charting, we are officially MFI.  It bums DH a bit, but I told him Id rather have a name than just wondering.

The RE recommended we start with IUI next cycle using clomid & ovidrel.  He also wants DH to start taking Co Q10 & to see a reproductive urologist but said we can still continue with IUI for next cycle.  He also said that our plan can change if the uro seeing a red flag or if the count drops below 5 (it was 6 on the last SA).

Im sad that we have to be going this route, but so happy to finally have a gameplan.

I would request a trial run sperm washing to see how they will hold up before you decide to do IUI. If you have insurance coverage for the IUIs, it may not matter to do some with low odds. If you don't, I'd see if you get over 5 million motile post wash. If not, I'd postpone the IUIs until after urologist treatments.

    Good luck!

I am glad the appointment went well.

We are also MFI. I know what a relief it is to get some type of plan in place.

    Good luck moving forward.

Also - I agree with Maggie - if your insurance doesn't cover IUI - you may want to do a little more homework and make sure the numbers would give you a good chance...

    Good luck.

Thanks everyone!  Our insurance does cover IUI, so we're okay doing one while we work on the uro.  If something comes up with the uro, then we would reevaluate our plan w the RE.
