I didn't know that this happened!!

I knew that babies could get little breast buds from mom's hormones, but I didn't know they could lactate!! I took Ansley in for another weight check today (she gained 4oz in 3 days!! Yay!!) and immediately the Dr came over and took her from the nurse who was weighing her. "Poor baby's engorged!" she said, and brought her into the exam room. I had noticed that her little buds seemed bigger today. But, the Dr actually expressed them to get some of the milk out. It was so sad. Her right one was the worst and actually a little inflamed, so I have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get more red and that she doesn't get a fever. I guess it's not unheard of for babies to get mastitis. My poor little angel. Cursed with mommy's boobs right off the bat!!

I didn't know that either. I remember how freaked out I was when Hazel had those. Poor girl being engorged though.

Wow, I had no idea!! I knew little boys could get erections (and I've worked in daycare with babies for years, I've seen it a lot), but didn't know that happened with girls! Poor baby, I hope she feels better soon and it goes away!

I didn't know that either. I'm grateful someone warned me about little baby boy erections. I can imagine that would've freaked me out if I wasn't warned!

DH had no idea and STILL doesn't believe me. He honestly thinks I am lying. I can't wait until Camden has one and I can say I TOLD YOU SO!

She doesn't really seem to be in pain. I'm trying to watch how I pick her up so I don't accidentally touch her poor boobies. The Dr said that they shouldn't refill, though they still are a bit swollen and full. If they get big again I have to call. I'm totally paranoid about it now. At least she doesn't feel warm at all. I'll definitely keep you all updated

I heard that at a childbirth class.  Also that they can get "pseudomenses" where they have a sort of period for awhile.  It's because they've been living inside grown up ladies with grown up lady hormones.  None of the doctors in my family knew about any of this.

She definitely had a bit of spotting, but I expected that...not boobs and milk. She seems to be ok for now. Way to make a mom paranoid though

my LO ia having a 'baby period' as my doctors and nurses called it. When my MIL was changing her diaper the other day she thought there was blood in the stool- she had never heard of  this before.
