Sorry in advance for the very stupid question! Our hospital requires a car seat test before discharging newborns. With DS #1, we put him in his car seat and DH carried him out. I was in a wheelchair (per hospital policy). For twins, does DH carry both car seats? It's a very large hospital so that might be a challenge. Do we put them in the DSNG and walk out that way? Do I put one car seat on my lap? That might hurt after a c-section.
I'm definitely nearing the end and the most random things are popping into my head.

our two miracles are here!
My Blog!
Our hospital requires that the mother carries the baby out, so I was in a wheelchair and they put both babies in my arms.
ETA because I'm feeling sentimental:
Now we're waiting on our miracle baby ... a little GIRL!!!
mine were in the NICU a month and all came home the same day-good times! we used the triple decker stroller with their infant seats snapped in.

Yep, depends on the hospital. Pam and I delivered at the same place and I had to physically hold both of them down and out to the car. I was a nervous wreck! We'd brought up the car seats and DSNG all ready for discharge and were told that the only way they would release us is with me holding them. I don't know how it's remotely safe to have a woman who has just had surgery hold two tiny newborns, but, that's how it was.

The boys left at 7 days of age and DH and I each carried a carseat out. No wheelchair ride for me.
This, but our girls were 9 days old. Also, we each carry both girls in their car seats on our own quite often. Every morning I carry them both from our second floor apartment to the car on my own. Since I'm lazy and only want to do one trip I carry both girls in their car seats, my purse, my gym bag, and a plastic bag with clothes and other random stuff for the day in one trip. The babies are so little, I'm sure your H would be fine if he had to carry both. It's good for developing arm muscles

Wow, I think I'm the only one with a hospital that requires you to bring the seat in, and have the baby strapped in it, before you leave (I don't know what they do if someone chooses to use a regular convertible seat that can hold a newborn). I don't think they do this for FT babies though. We just left the car seats in the NICU after the car seat test until discharge.
DD1 was in the NICU 2 weeks, but a nurse carried the car seat down (with her in it), and I walked with her while DH was pulling the car to the front. They also don't allow anyone else on the elevator with a preemie (I mean other people in the hospital...obviously, I was on the elevator).
The twins were in the NICU 3.5 weeks and left on the same day. Again, a nurse carried one baby in her seat, and I carried the other, while DH went to get the car and met us in front of the hospital. No one was allowed on the elevator that time either. I was thankful for that because all my babies were born in the winter time, so I'd rather not be on an elevator full of sick people with my preemies!

Thankful for every day
Car seats were in the car- we had done the car seat test the day before.
A staff member pushed me in a wheelchair carrying the babies, DH pulled the car up and met me outside. Honestly, I was terrified holding both the babies in the chair! LOL I kept thinking I was going to drop one!
I'm not sure if me carrying them was policy. If I'd thought to bring the stroller, I would have. Seems like the easiest way, but not sure now if it would have been against policy.
I THINK that's what happened, but honestly it's all a blur!

DH carried both babies in car seats, my mom carried our stuff, and a nurse pushed me in a wheelchair. My hospital normally has moms walk out, but I was still in a lot of pain due to posterior pelvic separation and needed a lift!
Carrying both car seats is easy when the babies are little, but for return visits (we were at the lactation clinic a lot) we used the DSNG.
We had to carry ours out in their car seats. Jake carried both of them -- it was a little awkward but fine.
Had we had time to plan better / thought of it, we probably would have brought one of the strollers. But oh well.
Eriksgal, we have the double decker version of that!! I find it fits the car seats much sturdier than the DSNG and love it.
Also, I walked out. Limped, really, but still.
