I started offering a sippy cup with a little water when LO was about 5.5 months old while he sat at the table with us a dinner time. I used the transitional Tommy Tippee cup because it was a lot easier too get liquid out of it...other sippy cups have valves and make it really difficult for the LO's to suck. It went over much better than the sippy's I used with my other two kids...we used Playtex and Avent sippies for them.
We use dr. Brown's 0+ months(still use the beginner) and it's DD favorite one. Quick tip, try the cup every day and in a week or two they will pick it up. Also what I did was(DD was already on solids) dip the sippy part in her apple sauce and she sucked right away.
My best friend is a speech pathologist who is very anti-sippy cup due to the impact on mouth development and she recommends straw cups only. So she's made me paranoid and we ended up with this one. I haven't had any leaking problems and I like that you can squeeze the bottom to push some liquid up the straw. Helped DS get the idea!
For some reason your link takes me back to the bump, but that's the same sippy we got for our LO. She caught on VERY quickly!
