Baby toenails

Are your LO's toenails "perfect"?

DD's nails on her big toes are "cracking" almost like you see when someone has a fungus on their nail. Should I be concerned that there is a fungus or is this something normal? I tried to take a pic but she wouldn't sit still long enough.

  • DS's are the same way.  I think that they are just so thin that they get bent easily in socks.  I know that DS uses his toes a lot when crawling and pulling up on things, so perhaps this is the reason?  I didn't ask the pedi at his appt., but probably should have.

I plan to ask at her 12 month appt, but I don't feel like it warrants an extra phone call.

  • Ths has been bothering me too, but I always forgot to ask at her checkups.  Maya's big toenails keep breaking really far down, and I'm afraid she'll end up with ingrown toenails, which is something I've had to deal with myself.  It seems like it bothers me more than her though.
