Going Home and such (long)

So after talking to DH and a few other people at length this weekend I have decided to go back home next weekend. (I also found an Ahhmazing deal on a flight back) Seeing as DH's new job is in Connecticut and both of us are not very familiar with the area we both think it will make moving easier and faster if I come home and can look at areas and places and such while he is working. Also MIL is about to be laid off (she has I think 2 weeks or so left of work) and this way FIL has a babysitter/buffer it wont just be he, O and I at home. I am hoping I can just stay in our apartment or go out during the day and not have to deal with him. I was pretty good at avoiding him before I left only dealing with him 2 or so times a week but now with our new rules I think its gonna be zero to no chance for him to bother me and he sure a h3ll wont have a chance to be mean to O. I will be all systems go on getting us out of there so I wont have time for his crap and its not like I would unlock the door to let him in should he decide for some odd reason he "wants to visit".

DH & I also set some ground rules for his parents like he told his dad he better watch what he says.(I believe DH when he says he will now not sit and take it when FIL runs his mouth.)

O is not ever going up to their part of the house without DH and/or I and thats only when MIL is there if FIL comes to the living room/kitchen O comes back downstairs. I have been told FIL is spending about 85-90% of his days in bed now a days so MIL may be able to have O come up to visit her but if FIL decides to come downstairs O gos back to our place.

MIL cannot babysit anymore.

O's high chair is now in our space and she and I will take our meals downstairs.

The stupid "Cry Baby" paper on her picture has been taken down.

I pray this doesn't blow up in my face and my parents also said I am more than welcome to come back anytime if FIL steps out of line.

Cookies and brownies are over on the table to the right if you read all this. Thank you all for your support and Ts&Ps for our family during this difficult time. I hope to have an awesome moving up and moving out update soon. :)

  • well it sounds like you are holding strong and have a good plan in place. Good luck with the trip and hopefully the moving process and enjoy being back with your DH.

  • I'm glad you will be back with DH finally. It sounds like he has really set some ground rules and will help stand up for you both now. This whole situation breaks my heart because I just can't imagine a grandparent being so cruel to a beautiful little baby. Anyway I'm glad DH got the job and you are moving soon. Where in CT are you moving to? I live in CT and it's a nice place! Good luck!

  • Best of luck, you'll feel better once the move is complete.

I love CT and as a PP asked, what part? :) So many lovely parts & so close to "country," mountains, and great cities like my favorite: Boston! :)

  • We are not sure where we want or should move to yet. That's something we have to look into. DH's job is in Norwalk but we don't know what the area is like except for what I can see on a map (ie looks to be near the water & I like that idea) DH thinks it mouth be a good idea to think about looking on "the other side" of Norwalk meaning towns and or cities that are after Norwalk if you were driving from NY. (i hope that make senses). Do you ladies know anything about Norwalk and or the surrounding areas? Where would you suggest looking?

  • I don't know a lot about Norwalk itself - the dowtown is cute but I think some areas aren't so nice. Parts of Stamford are very nice. Greenwich is VERY nice but expensive. Westport, Darien, Fairfield and Wilton are all very nice too. Thats a very good area to be in because most of the towns are nice with good shool districts. Even though I live kind of far from there, I'm part of a moms group and most of the moms are in that area. There's a FB group for it if you are interested - the moms on it are very nice (I met them on TB) and would be happy to have another member Im sure. Also since they live in that area they might be able to direct you better to places to look. Let me know if you are interested!

  • I lived in Stamford for 2 years and had a friend who lived in Norwalk. Like the PP said they are nice but some areas aren't the best. Most of the surrounding towns are nice too, but it is a very expensive area to live. My only caution is to stay away from Bridgeport.  Also there is a nice aquarium in Norwalk to take LO to. :)

  • Good luck!  I am sure DH can't wait to see your DD (and you too!)  It is always nice to know your parents are so supportive too.  Hope you can all put this behind you soon.
