My DH is likely going to buy me one of these for my bday, I just wanted to get some honest feedback first. What do you love/not love about the kindle fire? Anything you wish you had known first?
DH has one, he mainly got it to use as a tablet and is very disappointed in the app selection. I hear those whose primary purpose is an e-reader love it though.
I really like mine. I used it mostly to check email, facebook, a few other websites including this one, and as a ereader. It is kind of annoying to post from though so I mostly lurk while using it.
I haven't used many apps besides facebook and email. I downloaded a piano app for LO to play with. Oh I've also used netflix which is kind of cool if I'm pumping in my bedroom or something.

Do you read magazines from it? This is one thing I'm really interested in, I read a review that said it wasn't great for that.....
DH got me one for Christmas. For the most part...I like it. I read. A lot. The year prior, DH bought me a regular kindle for Christmas and I liked that...but middle of the night in LO's room while she's having a rough night...much prefer the glow of the fire as opposed to have the cover with the light of the older one (and that dang light was bright). I do read magazines on it as well, on occasion. As Stella gets older, I will also likely be downloading more books for her.
My biggest gripe is, for whatever, reason, I can't really do much at home. If I want to get on here, FB, or anything of the like, it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r. To where I say screw it and whip out the phone for those things. I don't get that delay with everything - works fine for checking my yahoo mail, and I can play Words With Friends and Wordfeud no problem on there. And Angry Birds. I've got several apps on it now, including a few for Stella.
DH seemed to like using it too...he'd take it with him to work quite often and at other places didn't have the issues I did with speed. He downloaded Netflix to it as well as various triathlon training books. However, I bought him a Galaxy for his birthday last month and he is very happy with that.

so glad you posted this! My birthday is is 4 days and I sort of thought about asking for one but am really just not sure. I hear there isnt much memory so to watch a show/movie you actually have to be where there is wi-fi vs just loading movies to it to watch whenever. Not sure if that is true. Maybe someone here will answer?
I love my Kindle. I got it mainly as an e-reader. I read People magazine on it. But - you have to already have a subscription. There is a free app, but a lot of people don't read that you have to have a subscription so I wante to throw that out there.
DH watches Netflix on his almost every night. I've bought a few movies for DS1 and he watches those where ever we are - we don't need WiFi once you buy or rent it.

He does have FB on it. But it doesn't have hanging with friends, draw something, fisher price apps, and some other popular ones.

I'm not sure, I've never read one on it before.
