So...the dr. thinks I have mono. I have a wicked sore throat and was going to just run into the dr., get an antibiotic for the strep throat I was sure I had, take my antibiotic, and call it good. No such luck!
I won't know if I actually have mono though until next week, since it won't show in blood work for about 7-10 days after symptoms start.
In the meantime, a few questions.
1. So, I just figured that it's okay to keep bf'ing LO like it is with just about any other sickness. Is this the case actually?
2. And does anyone know what I can do to help with the sore throat?
3. My dr. said to help it run its course more quickly to up my vitamin C and zinc with something like Emergen-C. But...I've been avoiding anything like that (Airborne) because I didn't think they were ok with breastfeeding! So, anyone know anything suitable to take while bf'ing that can help my immune system kick some mono-booty!
Re: Mono (me, not baby)
Continue breastfeeding. If you have mono, your baby is already exposed. Breastfeeding lets baby access your immune system.
You can look up meds on kellymom.com. https://kellymom.com/bf/can-i-breastfeed/meds/cold-remedy/
Vitamins are safe. Take what you would normally take.
