I love the newborn professional pics that everyone is having done. Question - this does mean you take them out of the house right? I mean these aren't taken at your home? I am just wondering when is an ok time to take LO outdoors and around the public. I've heard not until 6 weeks but I would love to get newborn pics taken.

Re: Question about newborn photos
my photographer will come to the house with her props.
However, it's a personal preference (and discuss with your dr) about when you take your newborn out of the house. A lot of people take their newborn out right away (just not in crowded places or where a lot of people will touch) and others wait 6 weeks. That's a decision only you can make
You can stay in until the baby is six weeks old...if you're ok with not leaving the house for six weeks. I am not that kind of person.
Use common sense- don't let strangers touch or breathe on the baby, and it'll be fine. Newborns sleep most of the time, so they're pretty portable.
Our photog came to our house. She has a small studio in her house, but since I was recovering from a c/s she came to us. Our bedroom gets great morning light so she just set up shop in there.
ETA: Our pedi said we could go just about anywhere, but just use common sense when it came to crowds and people actually touching/being near baby. We did family Easter when he was 11 days old and just made everyone be vigilant about hand washing and said no touching or kissing his face. DS has since gone on quite a few errands!

The hospital where I delivered had a company that came around and took pics right in your room. They came out really nice, and I am glad we did them.
