My firends niece is named  Novalee Tongue Tied

What are your thoughts on this name??

    I don't feel like 'Where The Heart Is' was a good enough book/movie to warrant naming a child after it (Natalie Portman played Novalee Nation).

    It's definitely NMS.  I think it sounds made up...and kind of like a cosmetic or face cream.

    I believe the point of her name choices was to demonstrate how trashy/uneducated the characters are. It's a part of the culture she's creating.

    Which means....there's no good reason to name a child Novalee.

    Agreed. Which means that the author intentionally chose a name she thought sounded "trashy."

    If I had never watched the movie, I would think it was an ok name. It doesn't sound terrible to me. But I think most people would associate it with Where the Heart is.

    I'm in the MAJOR minority here. I love the book, and have read it over and over (hate the movie, so maybe that redeems me just a smidge). And Novalee is a total guilty pleasure name for me. I named it in a book-related name poll recently here on the board. And I like it.

    TTC 10/11. IUI 2/12. BFP 3/8/12. 4/26/12 missed mc. RE consult 5/17/12. IVF #1 ER 7/13/12 53R, 41M ICSIed, 32F, 8 5d, 6 6d blasts - all PGD/frozen. PGD results 1 normal M and 1 normal F, 1 maybe M. FET 9/6, transferred 1 F embie. Beta 9/15 BFN. FET#2 planned for 11/2012 put off until 2013. Surprise BFP 11/21/12!! My son was born on 7/24/13!

    FET 4/28/2015 - Transferred 1 M embie. 5/6/15 BFP!

    I have a niece named Ja'Keria. Yeah I know! We call her JahJah. The poor little thing can't even say her own name. :( I successfully convinced my other sister not to name her first daughter Sundae, like ice cream sundae. Oh lawdy!

    i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
