Cord stump is just dangling, yuck!

Baby girl had one of the "fattest" cords our MW of 20 years claims to have seen. It has been oozing a bit of blood but has been checked out twice and it is fine. I keep ending up with blood on my nursing bra and now the thing is just dangling by a thread and it is pretty gross. I'm afraid of it getting snagged on her clothes or me and coming off before it is ready but the dangling is yuck.

I think they typically fall off around 2 weeks, but its not unheard of for it to happen earlier. My LO's stump leaked some of the old blood onto some of her onsies and I was told by the pedi that it was perfectly fine. If was dangling by a thread for about a day until it fell off on its own.

 

#1s took forever, a little over 2 weeks but was much shorter and never oozed.

LOL it just fell off. DD went screaming to her dad when it happened, her reaction was classic.
