April 2012 Moms

Baby Easton update (AW Pics)

I havent been on, things have been crazy!

Okay so on March 28th I had an appt with my OB and we determined that the safest route because his head and tummy were measuring off the charts and my pelvic something or other was quite narrow and we were afraid that we would end up in an emergency Csection anyway.

So we scheduled it for April 4. Long story short at 12:40 PM Easton Landry was brought into the outside world! Weighing in a 8lb 15 oz, 20 inches long.

He is so precious, he has the cleft lip & palate just like we knew he would but otherwise he is totally healthy. THe cleft itself is not even that severe, we will call next week to set up an assessment with the craniofacial team we have chosen to work on him. In the meantime I am trying to heal from the C, myh incisions is infected and we're trying to get that under control.

So Easton has lost quite a bit of weight and has his days and nights mixed up and has gas that we can't seem to get rid of without gas drops, we're on our second type of formula, we started on Similac Sensitve and now we're on Similac Soy. We are just so proud that he can eat at all, the biggest fear was that he wouldnt and we'd have to put in a feeding tube, but he does actually have a suction. Hes also developed a little jaundice so trying to make him eat and poop regularly is our biggest challenge. We have to use glycerin suppositories every few days to make him dirty a diaper, but when he does dirty one himself we all cheer and dance!

Anyway I just wanted to share what was going on with us.

Here he is :) We are so proud!!

  • Glad to hear he can eat on his own. That's great. My H's cousin's daughter had the same type of cleft. She had several surgeries to correct it. If you look at her now, you can't tell anymore. Very happy for you and your family. Congratulations!

  • He is beautiful.  A friend of mine is a dr & just spent time in the phillipines on operation smile - she loved it & said all the children were incredible, healed well & you couldn't tell by the end of the surgeries that they'd been through all they had.  It's wonderful news that he is able to eat, I hope that your infection heals quickly.  Massive congratulations.
  • Congratulations on your beautiful boy!! So glad he is doing well and eating on his own!  Yay Easton!
