Angel Care Baby Monitor

Has anyone had any experience or heard of this monitor?  Apparently it has a pad that sounds an alarm if your baby stops moving for 20 seconds.

We weren't even planning on getting a baby monitor, because baby will be in our room for the first month or so, and our condo isn't really that large.  My mom is asking if we want one, but I could think of other things we'd rather have.

Re: Angel Care Baby Monitor

  • I've heard great things about it.  We didn't have one for b but I became v v paranoid about SIDS & so have one for this chick - you can get them for about $60.  For some people it is a waste of money, for others it's invaluable, it depends on the parents I guess, DH is already saying "this is going to be a pain in my nuts, I can already tell!!!"

  • I got the snuza which is a similar concept

My DH talked to a coworker who said not to get it. If the baby rolls off the pad it'll sound and you'll panic. Apparently that happens a lot and it can cause more trouble than it's worth. It's still something I think is pretty cool but my anxiety would likely shoot through the roof with it.

  • We have one.  Only had two false alarms with my son.  The only time we had alarms is when he rolled all the way to the edge of the crib in the corner.  Even then we just adjusted the sensitivity and it was fine.  I don't know how we did without with my first!

  • We bought one. Haven't used it yet, but I've only heard good things about it. I think it will give me peace of mind.

  • We got one. I'm a FTM so I haven't actually used it with a baby yet, but it seems like it will be really nice.

I am so paranoid about SIDS (my brother died from sids) so I figured this will help me sleep better at night.

  • We have this. So far we've only used the monitor. LO doesn't sleep in her crib yet, but once she does, we'll hook up the sensor. We have the monitor on high sensitivity so we can hear every little tiny grunt.

  • We just got it because of our episode we had recently. We love it! It brings peace of mind and works great.

  • I have the AngelCare Deluxe model (comes with 2 handsets and 2 movement pads) and its been a savior. Seriously. I was so paranoid to sleep our first night home but I was able to because H found that there was a feature that gave a tiny tick every time baby breathed....I ended up tuning it out, but its still reassuring when I fall asleep. There's also sound that you can set to turn on only when there's noise on the other end...

    This things amazing, seriously.

  • We have the angelcare And only ever had one false alarm with my DS. We just bought the Snuza which I really like because we can use it anywhere including the rnp or pnp where she currently sleeps. And it's cheaper!

  • I always thought it was kind of overkill, but then DD was in our room 9 months and in our bed about half that time. She never slept long stretches so I guess I never worried about her stopping breathing. This kid grunts every 5 mins or less in his sleep so I've yet to worry about him, either.

  • We have the angel care monitor, can't give any review yet as my baby refuses to leave my uterus.

When I first heard of it I thought it sounded like overkill, but I figure it's worth a shot. Might save me from hours of standing over her as she sleeps trying to determine if she is still breathing or not...
