DD stayed with my mom for the day yesterday instead of with MIL like usual. They live out in the country and my allergies flare up out there, wondering if DD is like me. She's had a runny nose and cough and sneezing since around midnight last night, her snot isn't green, mostly clear, sorry for the grossness. Any advice mommies? We've got the humidifier for our room at bedtime and the boogie wipes, and I elevated her mattress a little so she isn't laying flat. Anything else I can do to help her out? I feel terrible watching her feeling so yucky. TIA
Re: Sneezing, runny nose and a cough. Cold or allergies?
I took LO to the pedi on Monday because of the same thing, though his mucous had progressed to yellow. She pronounced it allergic rhinitis.
The one thing she mentioned I hadn't thought of was to give him a little bit of water just before eating. She said it would rinse away the post-nasal drip that was combining with the breast milk (and presumably would with formula) that was making him cough. It did seem to help him.
I also took him in the steamy bathroom all week with me while I showered, which always makes me feel better so hopefully it helped him too.
