biochembelle

I saw you're on your second mastitis infection, are you getting a lot of clogged ducts? With DD I had it multiple times in a row, same side, and ended up taking lecithin supplements for the duration of nursing. I thought I'd throw that out there if it becomes a chronic thing, I never had another infection after starting. They could never find a cause for my infections (no clogs or cracks), it was frustrating.

Re: biochembelle

  • This is the opposite site. No cracked nipples, so I'm quite frustrated, though I do think there's a clogged duct. I just finished Keflex on 4/8, so they're trying me on Diclox.

I'm going to look into lecithin supplements because this is no fun!

  • They started me with Keflex as well and it didn't work, so then it was Erythromycin, which it turned out the bacteria was resistant to (explains why it came back!) and finally they put me on Bactrim DS, which was rough. They thought maybe it was MRSA since I'm a healthcare worker and it wasn't going away. I was told I may have to see a breast surgeon if I got it again, that's when I did my own research and found the lecithin suggestion on kellymom. I tried to wean off it after a couple months and almost had a 4th infection so I immediately started on it again, made me a believer! Good luck.
