XP: Labels for Daycare/# of Bottles

What labels do you use for the bottles you send to daycare?  I think I read good things about the labels on InchBug.  Do you use the adhesive labels or the Orbit ones that stretch around the bottle?  Links are appreciated!

Also, how many bottles do you send to daycare?  I'll be returning to work next month when my baby is 12 weeks old.  She eats roughly every 3 hours during the day and wakes once or twice at night for a total of 6-7 feedings/day.  We've offered a bottle a few times and she's taken anywhere from 2-4 oz.  We're using the Playtex Ventaire Wide 6 oz bottles and currently only have 3.  I'm thinking we should buy 6 more so I don't have to wash them daily.  She'll be in daycare/watched by someone 4 days per week for ~10 hours per day.

Thanks for your help!

  • I never bought labels, his BM bags have his name on the top, and his bottles have his initials on the side written in Sharpie.  It needs re-written every couple of washes (same with the bottle tops).

  • I got these Date Labels from Oliver's Labels but the writing doesn't wash off very well.  I've tried using the grease pencil provided and a dry erase marker, but the bottle warmer seems to bake the ink on somehow.

  • I have mabel's labels. I have two bottles at daycare and send the bags of milk labeled with his initials. They fill and wash the bottles as needed. I love not having to bring home bottles to wash. Not all daycares will do that though.

  • I used kiddotags and they are holding up great.  DS eats 3 bottles at DC from about 7-4.  We bought 6.  DS washes every night.
  • I bought these labels. I cut the sheets down to the size I needed and write on them with Sharpie, erase with a Magic eraser when washing. I can label 6 bottles from a sheet and so far they've stayed on through washings.

I send 4 - 4oz bottles to DC. He only takes 3 and the 4th is extra. If he doesn't take the extra bottle, I carry it over to the 1st bottle of the next day. I have the caps numbered so he gets the milk in order of freshness.

  • I ordered some waterproof labels from Oliver's Labels with his name on them. I use masking tape and a sharpie to put the date the milk was pumped or defrosted.

LO takes 3 3.5 oz. bottles per day while I'm at work. I have 8 bottles (Avent). I think you will need a few more than 3 to be on the safe side.

  • We use namebubbles for all of DS's daycare labels. They have waterproof labels that are safe for the dishwasher & laundry.

We send 4-5 bottles, 1.5-2 oz each. (DS does not take a bottle well & doesn't eat much while at daycare.) We have 16 bottles, when he first started DC we were sending 8 bottles per day, 1oz each.

We use colored rubber bands to keep track of the bottles with milk from different days. We write down at home what we send every day & the daycare ladies know that bottles with rubber bands are used first.
