We struggled with DD's name so the fact that we are struggling for Baby #2 is no surprise. Our DD's name is Teagan Noelle (which we both love, so in the end it worked out) but even though we still have plenty of time, I am stressing that I can't find anything that I love.
My dad passed away a little over a year ago so we would like the baby's middle name to be James in his honor. (Dad was Walter James) I would potentially like to use it for a girl's middle name too if it is paired with a first name that isn't 'too masculine.'
Any suggestions/thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Girl names that I like:
- Finley (James)
- Cora (James)
- Elise (James)
Boy names that I like:
- Colton James - was in love with this name but seems to be fading
- Rowan James
- Callan James - DH ruled out
Re: Team Green - needs help!
I think if you want to use James for a girl then go for it. Just be sure its paired with a feminine name. Cora or Elisa are very feminine.
I am not a big fan of the name Colton but like it better than Callan. Rowan is cute too. GL
No offense taken. I honestly thought about this a lot. I did not say I was 100% sure we would use James as a middle name for a girl. Just throwing around some ideas.
IMHO, I think my DD would feel honored more than be embarrased by her middle name knowing the background. If my mn was James and my parent's told me where it came from, it would so meaningful to me. My dad was the world to me and would have been to my kids as well.
Next, how often do people even know someone's middle name? We never call our DD by her first and middle name.
Maybe I am just being bias because it was my dad and I want to honor him so it is good to hear other opinions. Thank you.
I like Cora James and Rowan James.
There is another poster on this board named Cloudnine(climber) that is naming her DD Cora!
I agree with pps that Finley is a masculine name for a girl, especially to be paired with James. Cora or Elise are wonderful.
Your boy names are NMS. I'd go with James as a first name.
I went to grade school with a girl whose middle name was Stanley after her deceased grandfather. She was mortified by it and always tried to hide it from the rest of the class. I think it was more because Stanley isn't the prettiest name than the fact it is a boy's name. I think James is a really loving tribute to your dad and works with a feminine first name for a girl.

I think Cora James and Elise James sound great! I think it's fine to use James as a mn for your girls. Out of your boys names, I'm not real wild about how they sound with James, if I had to pick I'd choose Colton James. It sounds the best
I agree. After all, James is also a last name, and people use maiden names as middles all the time. I like Cora best for a girl. I don't like Colton, but I think Callan and Rowan are both fine.

Thank you.
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
Cora and Elise are both very pretty. Finley is nms.
I don't love any of the boy names. They all seem soft to me for some reason. I have a niece named Teagan. Her brother is Leo and I LOVE his name. I think Leo James would sound terrific.
