Do you use a steaming pot on the stove? Or is there a faster way? I always hate dirtying all the pieces of my pot set that steams for such a little amount of veggies for LO. Who needs extra dishes when you've got all the bottles, etc to wash?!
I microwave them. I put them in a bowl with a little bit of water, cover in plastic wrap, and microwave for anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the veggie.
We have a Miele pressure steamer, I put it on for 3 min and thats it, we just put the tray in the wash with our plates. We do BLW so any veggies that she's getting we are too.
I just put my steamer (see pic below) into a regular small pot. It only takes 5 minutes for things like squash, broccoli, cauliflower ....
ok I have one of these and I confess to having no idea how to use it.
Put about 1.5 inches of water in a pot (make sure the water does not exceede the hight of the feet) throw the steamer in, throw the food in, turn on the stove....viola!

Fill the bottom of a small pot with water (only enough so that the steamer can sit in the water without any water coming up through the holes). Put whatever veggies (or fruit, if you're having something that is too tough for LO to eat) you're having into the steamer and put a lid on the pot. It's that easy. I bought my steamer for just a couple of dollars at Target.

do you close up the steamy thing? or leave it open?
Open. It will close a little depending on the width of your pot. Litterally just drop it and and leave it that way. No need to try to spread it or close it or mess with it. It's self adjusting.

I put the veggies right into the bottom of the pot with a little bit of water, no extra anything, and it works perfectly, only one dirty dish to mess with!
Edit: just realized that may next more like boiling but the water doesn't cover the veggies, just the bottom of the pan...I always thought of that as steaming. Am I wrong?
I have a 5 teired sunbeam steamer. I bought it especially for steaming veggies for Cooper and it is fabulous!
I put sweet potato, pumpkin and potato on the bottom teir, apples, pears, plums or whatever fruit on the second teir, rice or cous cous on the third, fish on the fourth and corn cobs on the top.
I can do 2 whole weeks of food for Cooper in one go! I LOVE IT!!!

You are boiling the veggies. It cant be considered steaming if water is touching the food. Only steam must touch the food for it to be steaming.
