Trouble TTC

Saline Sono tomorrow and some ?s

Im excited and scared all over again. This isnt the first time i've had one but im still nervous about the pain. I am excited to talk to my RE. The nurse has been asking where I order my meds from so it sounds like we are on the right track. Wednesday DH has his SA and friday we meet with the high risk OB/MFM and thats it! Next thing you know we will be starting Lupron!!!

Anyone use Circle+Bloom? I have the cds and am wondering when I should start. Was thinking about trying it this week or at least checking it out. I am really looking forward to that to get me through the IVF cycle.

Lastly for anyone who takes  extra folic acid when do you take it and how much do you take. My hematologist said to take 4mgs but the supplements I have are in mcgs. I take 800mcs daily in my PNV and was going to add enough supplements to make 2000mcgs total a day. What do you think?

Re: Saline Sono tomorrow and some ?s

  • The saline sono is nothing.  Much like a pap.  No pain unlike the HSG.

  • mcg is micrograms... 800mcg=0.8mg

so if you need 4mg, you'd need 3.2mg or 3200 extra mcg to get to 4mg.  That seems like A LOT to me though...

  • Good luck Jez!  I am so happy things are starting to move forward for you, just not so happy you may have to go through some pain/cramping in the way.  Honestly, I was one of the people who didn't have a very easy time with the HSG and SSG, but I also have extreme pain during IUI's, so I think I'm special.  Hopefully it will be even better than last time for you!  Praying for 0 pain <3.

As far as folic acid goes, my RE prescribed the same thing 4mg and didn't want to prescribe a prescription formula because apparently there's other things in it than just Folic Acid in Folgard so he told me just to use the equiv.  I couldn't find one with higher than 800mcg, so I bought that, and just take 5 to get 4000mcg which is 4mg.  I take it at night with my second Heparin injection (recurrent loss protocol).

Good luck on the SSG tomorrow!

  • Just had my saline sono last week and it was a breeze - and over in about 3 minutes.  Never heard of circle and boom - what's that?

Thanks hun!!! I am hoping 800 motrin does the trick. Last time it was painful because I was at a radiology center. Ive never had anything done by this RE though and based on how she does an u/s I think im in big trouble! lol

Im glad to see your RE said the same thing. My RE actually sent me to a hematologist and he said it was up to me and understood why I would want to take the extra folic acid. Him and my RE feel the MTHFR is nothing to worry about because my homocysteine level is normal. Well id rather just take the folic acid. He also didn't give me a script so I am going to start supplements too. Im not sure about the baby aspirin but I dont think so just yet, probably after ER.

    Thanks for the advice!

I sure hope to be breezy tomorrow morning! LOL Circle and bloom are cd's you listen to that are positive thinking and help you visualize certain things. Getting the mind and body to connect and lower your stress level. I figure it cant hurt at this point.

What??? I am super surprised your RE and hematologist don't think its the MTHFR actually.  Dr. Sher did an article recently that it can still effect you even if your homocysteine levels are normal.  It seems crazy to me, you have no other explanation for your losses, and the one you do they doubt?  I would most definitely take the full 4000mcg/4mg of Folic Acid.  I had an issue with clotting not MTHFR, and my RE still pushed the upping of the Folic Acid along with Heparin just in case.  He worked under Dr. Sher long ago so he has the same opinions of anything Reproductive Immunological and a lot of RE's disbelieve in that and think RI is unproven and basically fringe science.  As far as what Dr. Sher's research shows, with either a blood clotting and/or MTHFR or C1677(which I guess is considered separate of MTHFR now) should be treated with high dose Folic Acid and Lovenox or Heparin and intralipids.

It took awhile for me to convince my RE on the last part because my NK cells are normal he agreed because he isn't familiar with DQ Alpha/Beta statuses and since that also could be the issue he went with it, and this cycle I'm doing all 3!  At the very least hopefully the Folic Acid will be enough for you.  I want to do anything possible to prevent another loss and if it means 5 extra vitamins a day and 2 extra needles a day, sign me up!

Good luck, praying so hard for you!

  • Hey Jez! I haven't been around much...we are taking a break, but I saw this and wanted to say good luck. The SHG is nothing, sweetie. Its way less pain than the HSG...it kinda feels like an IUI IMO.

Anyway, best of luck moving forward, sweetie!! I don't know much about Circle + Bloom....is it like a hypnosis thin? I hope it helps you out.

I know I haven't hit you up for info like I said I would...I'll definitely get with you when we decide to go back to the RE. I think we'll do 2 more IUIs with Follistim and then move to IVF. I'll touch base with you before we have our IVF consult.

((big squishy hugs)) Rooting for you dear!!! xoxo

Trust me I know! I think the MTHFR is playing a big deal so I am taking the folic acid just in case. Not going to hurt. Ive had three different doctors tell me it isnt affecting me, but I just dont know. So I am still confused on the conversion here, if i take 800 mcgs in a prenatal I just add up the supplements to equal 4000mcgs a day? Man that sounds like a lot! Oh well, if this what I need to do so be it!

Wishing you the best and can't wait for test day. How are you feeling? I hope this is it for you!
