what is going on? pumping less...

I guess I have seen people say sometimes you just stop responding to the pump?  Is this true?  I EP for my twin boys.  They also are supplemented with formula cause I never made enough..but now I am getting even less.  They are 3 months old.  I don't follow a very strict pumping schedule but generally I pump almost right after they eat.  I did go back to work..I work nights so I can't pump as often when I am there, but maybe I only miss one compared to if I were at home..and its only twice a week!  I just don't know why I pump less :(  I was trying to make it to 6 months at least.  Any ideas?

Re: what is going on? pumping less...

  • I have had the same issue, except I am at almost 8 months and have had a decrease. First things first, make sure you are drinking enough water. Eat oatmeal and snack on Life cereal, these all seem to help me. Also, I started using my hands to help express when I pump, you can youtube stanford hand express and should find the video. This brought my supply up pretty quickly. Also, don't know if theyr are sleeping through the night, but my LO is and I have to get up and pump around 2 or 3 just so I can make enough for the next day. Hopefully that helps!
