Hello ladies I?m new to the bump. I'm posting because I need your help. I?ve always had eczema but its gotten worst since pregnancy, I went to the derm last week and she prescribed me 3 medications all are topical steroids that are category C I asked her for safer alternatives or at least a med that?s steroid free and she claims that those will not be strong enough to treat my eczema and that the meds she prescribed are totally safe as they prescribe them for pregnant woman all the time. Does anyone know of any safer alternatives? otc hydrocortisone is not strong enough for me.
I don't have eczema, but I do have extremely sensitive and dry skin that has gotten worse with pregnancy. I love Aveeno's eczema therapy moisturizing cream.
my daughter and my neice have eczema and its bad! the stuff the doctors prescribed were to strong for there skin so i giveher a bath in the Aveeno body wash and lotion her with it and add hydrocordozone in with the lotion and it works I also have used tea tree oil and shea butter and that works as well if you prefer the organic way

I have it really bad on my face right now and went to the dr's yesterday she prescribed me hydrocortisone 1%. The dr. And the pharmacist both assured me that it is safe.
I have severe eczema (had it since birth) and at my last doctors visit (family doctor)I was prescribed triamcinole acetonide cream .5% and my gynecoligist said I can use it as long as I use a little at a time. I also us Aveeno Oatmeal bath and I also use Cetaphil morning and night. Also I found that if I take claritin 24hrs (not claritin d) it some what helps.
Thanks for the suggestions ladys, the Aveeno Eczema therapy helps but does not take away the eczema. I've heard good things about the oatmeal bath. I'm going to try to use the eczema therapy and the hydrocortisone for now.
vaseline on damp skin is the gold standard for eczema. cerave cream in the jar works well too, on damp skin of course! twice a day, as soon as you start slacking on moisture the eczema flares. u have to stay ahead of it

I have had eczema since birth. Topicals do not work for me and because of all my past medical conditions doc did not want to try any of the orals.
The only thing I have found is good old fashioned sunlight. Of course wearing sunscreen, but about 30 mins a week has help keep it manageable.
